daliusd··on Static electricity attracts ticks to hosts
You meant encephalitis vaccine , Lyme disease does not have approved vaccine but can be healed with antibiotics if noticed on time. I got encephalitis vaccine as I live in country that is one of the top countries where people get tick borne diseases.
daliusd··on The quest for a simple smartwatch
It does. Sometimes it does that incorrectly though.
daliusd··on The quest for a simple smartwatch
I think Android can do parked car trick. I am guessing only but google maps apps on iOS shows where I have parked car. I am surprised that google does not offer something similar to airtag.
daliusd··on Are We Sixel Yet
I have tried zellij and it is not yet for me:

* Can't move tabs (fixed position)

* sixel support with iterm2 is meh. Yes, it shows image, but it does not look good.

* Support for undercurl seems to be missing.

* I need to sacrifice some other functionality I have in tmux.

Yes, I get some extras but it is not ready yet for me personally.

daliusd··on Are We Sixel Yet
For me personally tmux giver minor improvements (some of them are done by some terminals, some are not), e.g.:

* Text selection using variuos shortcuts (usually I use it only for URL):

https://github.com/tmux-plugins/tmux-copycat

* FZF autocompletion from output, e.g. in case I want to diff some file I see changed in `git status`:

https://github.com/laktak/extrakto

daliusd··on Are We Sixel Yet
Checking snapshot diffs from git repo. I would love doing that in terminal instead of opening in external app.

I have scripts that do diffing and opens results in external app, but I will replace this with in-terminal images when I will find out a way to do that.

daliusd··on The loophole that made cars in America so big
When I was working for US company I saw funniest thing - two obese coworkers sitting in Mini Cooper. They fit just fine.
daliusd··on CATL has announced a new “condensed” battery with 500 Wh/kg
Bicycles would benefit as well. I would love if my electric bicycle were slightly lighter.
daliusd··on Dishwasher Salmon
I agree that it might be tasteful and I hope that's what you mean by "best", but health-wise there is nothing good about it.

daliusd··on Dishwasher Salmon
Some eat raw meat but like drawing motorcycle without helmet it is not safe whatever standards you have
daliusd··on Semaphore: A Full-Body Keyboard
You can integrate 30% or smaller wireless keyboard (with Elite-C) in your trousers IMHO. This would address "good" part (think something like this https://www.tzcl.me/blog/rae-dux but without PCB and wired using wires). At least I use adux keyboard of similar size daily. Or you can go even smaller with something like this https://artsey.io/ but I am not sure if this could be considered good. Next part would be concealing it - kailh low profile are too high IMHO for pants. There are switches that are even lower but most probably this might not work. I guess captive touch sensors might be solution but I am not sure if they would work well as keyboard. I guess some art would help concealing as well.

Still I don't feel this would be really comfortable to type on.

daliusd··on Analysis of Twitter algorithm reveals Twitter down-ranks tweets about Ukraine
Still there are many complains about Starlink in Ukraine, e.g. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64579267.amp

What is here then https://youtu.be/826HMLoiE_o ? Was this debunked as fake or something ?
daliusd··on Ask HN: How are the current layoffs affecting non-US developers?
Lithuania. There were at least 3 companies last year who reduced their IT workforce: Interactio, HCL Technologies Lithuania and Genius Sports. As well last year Uber announced that they will close Lithuanian office but people can relocate (I know people who chose to move to different companies in Lithuania). This year I heard only about TrustPilot firing someone (or everyone).

It looks like companies choose not increasing salary path nowadays. That means the only way is to switch jobs to get salary increase and I know several people who did that recently. Company I work at is looking for front end developers as well. I have direct invite to some companies and I know that in case I lose my job I will get new one next day. LinkedIn spam reduced from 2 offers per day to 2 per week but I still get them.

daliusd··on Ask HN: What is your new year's resolution?
I think only you know answer to this.

daliusd··on Starlink to start “deprioritizing” traffic after 1TB monthly
That’s Lithuania. However I am pretty sure it will be more expensive soon.
daliusd··on Starlink to start “deprioritizing” traffic after 1TB monthly
Wow 80. I pay 10 euros for about the same.

daliusd··on Programming on 34 Keys
I am using 34 keys keyboard as well, but instead of Miryoku based layout I am using Callum like layout. I am experimenting with it heavily but I feel like I am finally settling on something stable.

Here is PR if somebody else is interested that most probably will never get merged to QMK as they don't like unit-tests https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/16174

The main difference from Miryoku that there is not tap-hold keys.

daliusd··on Ask HN: Are there any decent GitHub Copilot Alternatives?
Then it is bad heroin. I used it when it was free for quite some time, I found it useful once and nice in some other cases. I can use it now for free because I accidentally did significant open source contributions, but decided not to use it as it is not that useful in the end.
daliusd··on Ask HN: Depressed, need to leave web development, what can I do?
I got lucky then :-)
daliusd··on Ask HN: Depressed, need to leave web development, what can I do?
You could try looking into small companies. They might be paying less, but there might be 0 interviews, low stress and fun. I don’t know which country you are from but here in Lithuania there are many options and we are country of less than 3 millions.
