dSebastien··on Obsidian Sync now has a headless client
The Obsidian CLI enables many scenarios not possible with the Markdown files alone: building and debugging plugins, running commands, controlling Obsidian, querying bases, accessing the Obsidian index, ...
dSebastien··on Setting up OpenClaw on a cloud VM
I wrote a security-minded setup guide here: https://www.dsebastien.net/how-to-self-host-openclaw-securel...
dSebastien··on Show HN: Declarative open-source framework for MCPs with search and execute
I think that the search and execute pattern shared by Cloudflare is really awesome. Used it for my Obsidian exposing all 100+ commands of the Obsidian CLI abd it works wonders. More MCP implementations should take that approach
dSebastien··on Show HN: Moonshine Open-Weights STT models – higher accuracy than WhisperLargev3
I've been using Moonshine since V1 and the results are really great. I'd say on par with Parakeet V3 while working really well with CPU only.
dSebastien··on You are not supposed to install OpenClaw on your personal computer
Safer approach: https://www.dsebastien.net/how-to-self-host-openclaw-securel...
dSebastien··on I turned off ChatGPT's memory
I rather have memory and ideas in Markdown and pick what to include in the context rather than relying on platform specific memory features

dSebastien··on Show HN: Transcribee: YouTube transcriber that builds a knowledge base
Too bad there's no OSS license.
dSebastien··on The state of Linux music players in 2026
Ohhh I just remembered Amarok!
dSebastien··on Ask HN: ADHD – How do you manage the constant stream of thoughts and ideas?
Interstitial journaling is a great way to keep regaining focus easily.

Meditation helps Sleep as well

dSebastien··on Why IRC is better than Real Life (2000)
Good memories endlessly tweaking configs and scripts.

No wonder we're around here now I guess

dSebastien··on Why IRC is better than Real Life (2000)
Exactly the same.

I was also on some other servers, but QuakeNet felt special.

dSebastien··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (January 2026)
Having fun with Claude Code, React, TS, Bun, Tailwind, Zod and a bunch of other things. Lots of work remaining...

Can't they bring people like Tristan Nitot back? :(
dSebastien··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2025 – Show and tell
Around 3K/m with my side projects: https://tools.dsebastien.net

Revenue from courses, apps, community, books...

Still not able to pay myself anything though

dSebastien··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
An Obsidian plugin that makes life tracking easier: https://www.dsebastien.net/announcing-life-tracker-a-new-obs...
dSebastien··on Ask HN: Is starting a personal blog still worth it in the age of AI?
I'd say more than ever before
dSebastien··on The Anatomy of a macOS App
I've joined the Apple Developer program to be able to sign/notarize my Tauri app. And it's been three weeks that I'm failing to get the app notarized. I don't own a Mac so I'm using GitHub actions. Apparently the fact that notarization takes ages is very common the first time(s) an app is sent. I've spent nearly $100 on GitHub and my app still isn't notarized.

I contacted support and they don't want to help because I'm not using a Mac and using a third party framework (Tauri), even though it's just using xcrun, Apple's tool...

Also I've been unable to even use the notarization API to retrieve the submission logs and Apple didn't help for that either so far (they just disregarded my ticket).

I feel powerless and abused. This is the worst DX/CX I've had in years.

As a side note, authenticating against the notarization API is a nightmare. You get a PKCS8 that you have to use to create/sign a JWT and you're basically on your own... I had to build a little node program just to craft the JWT...

dSebastien··on How to Attend Meetings
I consider it a key part of my job to reject as many stupid meetings as I can. I accept meetings that have actual potential to change the status quo and bring progress. I choose between conflicts based on that too.
dSebastien··on Show HN: An AI zettelkasten that extracts ideas from articles, videos, and PDFs
It seems like a useful research tool, but it doesn't have much to do with zettelkasten. At best it helps creating literature notes, but permanent notes are always yours to write since they're about your own ideas, your own thinking, etc.

dSebastien··on Show HN: An AI zettelkasten that extracts ideas from articles, videos, and PDFs
True
dSebastien··on 10 years of writing a blog nobody reads
I've been having fun with my blog for many years. And now it's a big source of revenue for me. Still, I treat it almost the same way as before: a place where I get to share my ideas and discoveries.

The sheer act of writing helps me structure my thoughts and helps others grow. Win win!

https://dsebastien.net

What I did a while ago was splitting notes and articles: https://notes.dsebastien.net

Publishing unpolished notes is a great way to remove needless pressure

dSebastien··on Indie, alone, and figuring it out
I've been on that path since 2019. It's super challenging but so rewarding. Building your own universe, working your own way with total freedom and constraints.

I'm proud of all I've built and shared so far. But I still can't leave my day job. So at this point it's still 40/60.

At work, management asked if I'm willing to come back full-time and take over the team's leadership. No way. It's a costly game to play (huge opportunity cost), but the freedom is so valuable.

dSebastien··on Indie, alone, and figuring it out
Haha, same
dSebastien··on Personal blogs are back, should niche blogs be next?
Never stopped publishing on mine (15+ years now). My blog is definitely an important source of credibility for my work, an important part of my sales funnel, and also a way for me to share ideas and grow.
