czcar··on Ask HN: Where do you live?
tauranga, New Zealand
czcar··on Ask HN: Best startup or business podcasts/interviews?
I just finished listening to 'how to get rich' by dennis felix, which is a good light, humorous book. Take everything with a pinch of salt, but mixergy.com has some good stuff. Ecorner.stanford podcasts are all pretty damn good, harvardideacast and knowledge@wharton are interesting but not to the same level. Can also recommend venturehacks and venturevoice podcasts for customerdev/marketing entrepreneurial stories.

I listen primarily when running or at gym, killing two birds...

czcar··on Amazingly detailed motorbike model
there is meant to be a massive amount of images on the page, just a really interesting hobby, that i would in no way have the patience for, but thought others might appreciate the dedication involved
czcar··on Ask HN: What do you eat?
While toying with the idea of going vegetarian (to see if it would affect energy levels), and just reducing intake of red meat as whole I have started using lentils in a lot of meals, especially in dhal and potato curries.

Seriously easiest and nicest meal possible. http://www.vegsoc.org.nz/recipe_070307.html For a quick dhal recipe. Quick to zap reheat and easy to eat in a mug at the desk.

czcar··on GM and Segway create new vehicle
With their combined R&D budgets I am still waiting for an autonomous vehicle. This to me is an unnecessary incremental improvement on current vehicles. When I can sit in a vehicle and not drive, that I'd pay anything for. The darpa grandchallenge seemed to prove it's possible today, different companies are coming at it from different angles (irobot, autonomous warehouse robots).
czcar··on Ask HN: If you woke up tomorrow and...part 2
Drum brakes? ...something i have always found interesting is what mistakes could we have avoided. Serious mistakes brought on by ignorance and pseudo-science, such as the act of bleeding to heal.
czcar··on Ask YC: Why aren't high-rises built by machines?
There attempting to build something like this, http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/15/rival-robots-prepping-to-... . Personally I think its a horrible idea, I have a gross aversion to suburbia clones, let alone soviet style skyscrapers that all look the same. But I suppose it would be interesting. As gravitycop pointed out skyscrapers more often than not are ego plays so the more outlandish the better.
czcar··on Ask HN: playin' the stocks game
Unless you want to do this full time, put it in a index fund.
czcar··on TechCrunch Tablet Update: Prototype B
this would be a killer device for university students aswell, i would love being able to carry this to class vs 4 different massive textbooks, and imagine how much more useful a chemistry/finance etc textbook would be if every page was interactive, imagine quick referencing and word definition
czcar··on TechCrunch Tablet Update: Prototype B
i think it will work (if not in this iteration then another), it does one thing, and hopefully well. it allows the owner to consume information. which is one of the main tenets of the internet.
czcar··on Ask HN: Choosing a industry/field
thanks for the response, it concerns me in as much that i think that your probably correct. its easy to excuse myself as an undergraduate, and "put it off" till later, but it seems that the successful people don't even consider second guessing themselves, instead they have started. although i take (perhaps falsely) solace when reading of firms such as sony and hp that started with the intent to create something, but without an ideas as to what those things would be.
czcar··on Ask HN: Places to see in Netherlands ?
Amsterdam is amazing and it is possible to spend days just wandering around and exploring all the markets, fresh meats, cheeses etc, it is a short trip on the ferry (behind the train station) to some of the inter-connected islands with large parks etc. And I recommend visiting Rotterdam which is only a train ride away.
czcar··on AskHN: Where to hold naming contest?
the guys at kluster.com have started something like this up, named unsuprisingly http://namethis.com/name_this/
czcar··on Where can I find a feed of interesting videos on startups?
I second the stanford podcasts,

http://webcast.berkeley.edu/ http://videolectures.net/ www.ted.com http://omnisio.com/startupschool08 http://blog.mixergy.com/ http://events.carsonified.com/fowa/2008/london/content

all have interesting videos. id advise just going to www.google.com/videos and searching for those particular people if your interested in them.

czcar··on Ask HN: What do the enlightened use when the rest of us use Excel?
Hmmm not sure if it quite fits but SPSS for Statistical Analysis...
czcar··on Proposal: Something to make everything better.
An environment? A web platform? Are you asking a question, for an opinion on the idea, which could be good or bad dependent on what it is exactly your trying to say.
czcar··on Poll: Could open source produce an iPod killer?
I don't believe a traditional 'Open-source' item could beat the ipod. (I think The Iphone and G1 will kill the ipod). The market has started to become modular, and us such 'good-enough' products will slowly eat away at the ipod, for a firm (opensource or otherwise) there needs to be a design-led core team to make decisions, to get working capital to manufacture, distribute, market etc (like mechanical_fish suggested). Regarding the average consumer arguement, to an average consumer an ipod has become synonymous to a mp3 player, and as more and more generic 'ipods' flood the market apple will probably leave the market.
czcar··on Desktop Linux suckage: where's our Steve Jobs?
Shuttleworth wants to (I believe) step up to the plate. Not sure if he has the megalomaniac streak
czcar··on Ask HN: University business idea competitions?
Can't hurt to participate, have entered something similar last two years. Hint though, find out who the Judges are, in our case they were mid-level managers at PWC, IBM other sponsors etc, really need to target their tastes if all you want is the money.
czcar··on Hacker News LinkedIn Group: This list is dead, long live the list.
Just joined. Real name Cameron Priest
czcar··on Ask YC: Where's the escape hatch? I'd like to leave the US, but to where?
Try New Zealand, starting a business takes 5 minutes and $160, and it has to be done online. We also have a growing population of startups in Auckland and Wellington.
