cypressious··on Tricks to start working despite not feeling like it
Duolingo has streaks built in but it allows you to buy a "Streak freeze" with a virtual currency that you earn by just using the app. When you skip a day, the freeze will be automatically consumed and you have to buy another. You also can't have more than one.

I find this system very effective without being frustrating. Even when you skip a day, you have to at least open the app to buy a new freeze.

cypressious··on Perfectly Cropped
The author claims to be "a developer with an eye for design" yet the blog is very hard to read with the giant images in between the text blocks.
cypressious··on Google Feedback on TypeScript 3.5
A big part of TS is the ease of transition from JS where you immediately get benefits through gradual typing and return type inference is probably a big part of that.
cypressious··on Run .NET Core Apps Directly from a GitHub Gist
Coming from a Java background, I'm currently a big fan of .NET Core. The C# language has a bunch of nice features, the ASP.NET Core stack is nice to work with and I have JetBrains Rider so I don't ever need to touch Visual Studio.
cypressious··on The Order of the JSON
I have written an app for the menu of my university's canteen. The JSON API that I used returned the meals as fields of a document where the order of the fields was the actual display order. It took me a while to even find an implementation of a JSON parser that keeps the order of the fields.
cypressious··on Electron 6.0
I want to thank you for making me aware of Ripcord. So far I'm very impressed with it.
cypressious··on What’s New in ES2019
Optional chaining recently reached stage 3, the babel plugin is available and TS is going to adopt it for 3.7.0.
cypressious··on Building a front end with no JavaScript
Ironically, the largest element of the website is the poorly optimized, almost 400kb hero image. After running it through https://tinyjpg.com/ I got it down to 75kb.
