cush··on HTML Can Do That
It's weird that the pure html dialog still doesn't handle inertness yet
cush··on Anthropic's 'Watermark' Text Adulteration in Claude Is a Perversion of Writing
Models can easily do multiple passes
cush··on Engineers will do anything to avoid learning from history
That is categorically untrue. Professional Engineers not only face consequences, they are personally liable for the work they put their stamp on, and they can lose their license
cush··on Engineers will do anything to avoid learning from history
Because Engineering is an incredibly rigorous discipline and title that requires so much work to obtain. It’s like a massage therapist calling themself a doctor. Computer Science isn’t Engineering.
cush··on Engineers will do anything to avoid learning from history
That’s because most Software Engineers aren’t Engineers, they’re computer science majors. It’s a completely different discipline.
cush··on Working with AI Feels More Like Leadership Than Coding
Because it is
cush··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
An approach like C2PA is the only realistic path forward. If the trajectory we're on continues, it's probably safe to assume nearly all content will be AI generated. We need realistic ways to prove content is human generated, and without true authentication (someone willing to corroborate they created the content, and they can certify it), the whole endeavor is pointless. While private human-verifiable content will still cease to exist, at least in this way we can avoid moving into an information dark-age
cush··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
No it isn’t. If it was you’d be charged per update not per month.
cush··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
These types of costs exist for any business. It’s called overhead, and I done care. Profit doesn’t equal revenue for any business, and it’s the developer’s responsibility to charge enough to cover their costs. If they can’t do that without inventing reasons to impose a monthly charge, again I don’t care. If you want to charge for new features, box it up in v2 and I’ll pay again.
cush··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
This is hardly convincing. A $99/yr fee and a once every 2 years update doesn't warrant a monthly subscription fee from every user. Eg a $9.99 app could cover those costs with a few dozen downloads
cush··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
By that logic they should charge per photo
cush··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
No way. Subscriptions make sense for services. This is just a regular app.
cush··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
Charge some number of dollars once. There's no service here, so why would we need a subscription?
cush··on Stealing Reasoning Traces from Proprietary LLM APIs
I really like this website
cush··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
Should be ensloppifier.app - it somehow makes the AI sound more like AI, while also completely changing the meaning and context of the input text

From their before/after:

   - Certainly! -> (removed)
   - onboarding redesign -> revamping the introductory process
   - this week -> (removed)
   - empty states -> empty sections
   - CTA heirarchy -> call-to-action sequence
   - interviews -> discussions
   - aligned copy with brand voice -> verbal identity
... these choices change the meaning of the text
cush··on How Claude marks AI-generated content
Certainly it can't watermark text with low entropy. If you're renaming a function using claude it won't be marked
cush··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
That’s the joke, friend.

The idea that we can possibly ignore the fact that this push for opening AI models is being pushed by one of the richest people on the planet, who made his wealth by providing free services in exchange for attention and depression, is insane

cush··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
No it absolutely is not. In a perfectly logical frictioness-plane world it might be true, but this is the real world. The entire premise of open models is predicated on the fact that Meta is planning on supplying free and equitable inference and services around it. It’s only true if you assume Meta keeps their end of the deal and doesn’t do the thing they’ve been doing over and over and over for decades and turning you into the product
cush··on Mark Zuckerberg attacks 'closed' AI rivals as Meta returns to open models
It might be true if it wasn't coming from Meta, but it is coming from Meta. Intelligence is a function of the model and compute. Meta has the capital required to put together world-class compute, but they can't attract the talent required to build world-class models. Given their history of building addictive software to harvest and sell user data for profit, they're the last company we need spearheading how models should be regulated. Nobody trusts Meta to do this.
cush··on 'Pervert glasses': Backlash against Meta's smart glasses grows
It's classic Meta. They made a consious decision to completely hide the cameras so the person wearing it wouldn't feel mildly uncomfortable while they completely violate everyone around them. The little light offers zero transparency - it's plausible deniability wrapped in a least-effort attempt at caring about your privacy.

The only thing that made this strategy fail the regular Meta playbook was the glasses became too popular too quickly, and rather that people slowly sinking into acceptance and complacency, they decided to speak up and shit on the glasses and call out the wearers for being creeps

cush··on Timeline of the OpenAI accidental attack against Hugging Face
There is nearly zero liability in software
cush··on Show HN: Sign language translation with smart glasses
As others have pointed out, it might be helpful to step back and learn more about sign language. More importantly though, you might want to learn more about Deaf culture and how this type of technology might be received
cush··on Timeline of the OpenAI accidental attack against Hugging Face
Yeah but persistence is immeasurable. They need to know when they’re hacking. Or better yet make the model providers liable - they’ll find a solution right quick
cush··on Stateless MCP has recaptured my interest
But is it composable like cli? The main issue to be with MCP is the entire response ends up in the context window. Whereas a decent harness and agent is usually going to pipe together and filter many tools in one long command without spending all the extra tokens.
cush··on Don't credit the LLM
That’s important to know too though. Most people are still figuring out this new world and knowing where it breaks it pretty critical right now.
cush··on Don't credit the LLM
I think people do this because they’re hedging and to be transparent
cush··on Elevators
This is a fun simulation to play with. One variable I appreciate in efficient elevators is how the doors work. Usually they don't let you press the button to open a closing door - effectively delaying an already departing car
cush··on Hard Road – A beautiful procedural post-apocalyptic game
Can you drive on mobile?

It’s my favorite podcast right now!
