I feel so sad that there is no competing product out there and thus FB has the balls to repeatedly treat its users insignificantly.
It's even more sad FB is using it (the fact that all of my friends are on FB and hence I wouldn't switch) to take undue advantage in a way that I would not permit had they asked me.
Do check the list of sites they search:

I don't remember how I stumbled upon these guys, but generally their flight results are the cheapest. They don't do too well in hotels (I tried US ones) though.
Well, then there's the file metadata (inode in Linux: http://www.linux-mag.com/id/8658/). It is a very useful chunk of properties attached to the memory unit and provides a base for ton of essential facilities that make life easier.
Was actually discussing with someone I know in Oracle - they are exploring more mobile visibility aggressively. And I guess it wouldn't hurt if they own a popular enterprise mobile platform.
Considering they started it, there is still more scope for Google to leverage Map-Reduce paradigm and probably build more products around it like the Hadoop ecosystem has done. This looks quite useful to start with.
Unless they work out a miracle in 2013, RIM's best bet is to get acquired. And actually they could be a good option for Oracle considering they plan to explore new enterprise avenues.
True. I'd love to see where this stands after 3+ iterations rather than just forming in opinion after the launch. I feel this is a viable new platform rather than just being a fancy gadget. How often would I use my smartphone if I use a Glass?
The new design looks beautiful. But google+, while you have most of the features that are needed for a good all round social experience, please make it easy for non-techie people to understand.
Hmmm, some of the ideas to get rid of noise could be:
1. to have some good, fun books that you can pick and read (not a laptop book) when you need a break.
2. to have some real sport / game thing going - could be as simple as a table tennis game or a brisk walk.
3. to have a musical instrument around (of course you should know how to use it).
"In the interest of complete transparency we want to clarify that the use of this information is limited to improving the quality of friend suggestions when you use the ‘Add Friends’ feature and to notify you when one of your contacts joins Path––nothing else."
Is "complete transparency" == me trusting you just because you say so?
Don't understand the downvotes at all...
Curebit's case sets a very ugly example. Profanity in the same sense sets a very ugly example for younger minds, especially when coming from such a well respected entrepreneur.
Man! Curebit is definitely very wrong, but all those abuses just don't make a pretty read on my twitter feed. I am gonna unfollow DHH. I respect him a lot for what he's achieved, but all that profanity leaves a very very bad taste.
Personal learning: never abuse. Those words mean nasty things.
Not to forget that they don't just sell their products in the US. And not to forget that their sales in APAC region is bound to grow significantly in the future. Not justifying the bad work conditions you're pointing to, but it seems fair to generate employment in places where they're getting their profits from.
Can you name a few companies in India that hire "superstars" for that amount? Every "superstar" I know gets close to $4500 in India. Maybe, your definition of superstar differs from mine.
"especially the 20 bucks I’m about to throw at you".
This is very cheap on the writer's part. I agree, Jimmy Wales' face showing up is super irritating, but I personally did not like the tone.
Try letting people hangout with popular folks (from tech, media, science and other fields). Announce those hangouts. Let there be participants and viewers. Sell hangout guys!
That's not a smart integration in my view. Out of nowhere you place a youtube icon on a random location on the screen. And the pop up that follows that. You're basically switching the user's context when in fact your goal is to let her stick. There is something wrong going on with the UI design folks at google it seems.
Another point is that most of these companies "also" derive part of their revenues from non US markets. I am sure that adds to their profits as well. It would be very informative if someone could come up with those figures as well. It will add a lot more perspective to the illogical India-China bashing.
I feel hangout is gonna be the dark horse feature. Imagine coming back from a hard day's work, logging in to plus, and finding 3 of your best friends hanging out over a beer ;)
