I think Puerto Rico stands a lot to gain from these changes.
Residents and businesses here file taxes with PR's Hacienda, not the IRS, therefore Section 174 doesn’t affect PR as far as I know. On top of that, PR already has several tax breaks and incentives that may tip the scales even more for some.
It will be a very interesting year though as the head of Hacienda just resigned, so it’s anyone’s guess as to how we’ll end up.
PyCon 2024 May 17-19 (ish). Went in 2023 for the first time and found it simply amazing. This year it’s in Pittsburg. Also a fantastic place to get a job for anyone looking.
It's a legal term that hasn't caught up to modern standards as that word still implies a physical need to return your vehicle for service. When in reality it's the same as a forced security update on your phone or PC.

I'm looking for a freelancer to help me build an MVP for a regional classifieds mobile app and could use Flutter (or Flutter flow) experts. Backend in Python or Rust. Please email contactme atmyusername.com with portfolios and rates.
As an unfit person who doesn't work out, I was considering getting the Mad Muscles app because I got a ton of ads for it and it seemed to fit me well. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but if you're looking for users like me, I suggest taking ideas from them because at a glance your apps seem very similar and I found their sales pitch very good.
As a tech consultant who dreams of quitting to pursue my own app business venture, you've opened my eyes a bit to the kind of pain that awaits me. I think you went way overkill IMO, but you did it, which is what counts in the end.
Congrats on developing your app! I'll try it out sometime and give you more feedback.
Whoa Peer to Peer connections with
strangers is scary stuff that almost no one would volunteer for. I get the bandwidth reasons to do it but everyone should know this is peer to peer before connecting and know the risks of being hacked/stalked as they expose their IP to strangers. I would put a huge disclaimer about it, which I didn't see on your site.
Thanks for posting this as I learned about Grid and it looks really interesting. I wonder how exactly do you name this category of spreadsheet app for SEO purposes? When i search top spreadsheet apps or Excel alternatives, apps like yours don’t often show up, instead I get AirTable, SmartSheets and other general spreadsheet apps that are not calculation intensive. I’m trying to find Excel on steroids for data analysis and reporting that connects to DBs directly, does database exploration, connects or offers a BI tool and has convenient integrations like PowerAutomate. Is there any Microsoft killer out there with this roadmap?
I’m the same way. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
I need to write down my thoughts for everything on paper, sticky notes or drawing boards if I want to be sure that Ive thought about it well enough. I find most people don’t have this immediate drive for quality, though. Most developers just want to splash words on the keyboard and see an initial result to see if it works. I work the opposite way, I need to see it work in my mind or on paper before coding it. But neither of us is right or wrong, we just work differently.
Just want to mention that I've searched many names with Porkbun and Cloudflare Registrar recently and they haven't done this, so maybe try with either of those for future reference.
I’m currently finishing a degree in Business Analytics and Management, though I have experience involved in business ops at a startup that was acquired and as an analyst/dev.
The more I’ve learned, the more I realize you can’t just halfass a new business idea part time, it takes relentless drive to push through obstacles when the going gets rough (money/time/talent attrition/competition/life) and nothing stays stable forever. Amazon started out as a bookstore and Digg is barely known by anyone anymore. Simple ideas go through the same lifecycle as anything else, just on a different timeline.
That said I’d be happy to pitch a few ideas and talk more. After all, that’s why I pursued this degree in the first place.
Surprising that no one said this but receiving email is as easy as setting up mail forwarding in the DNS records with the domain registrar. Just Google how to do it with your registrar and you are set. Shouldn’t have any cost at all.
As a faithful user of micro for the last couple of years, just know that its one of the first things I install in a new system along with the fish shell, especially in servers I have to manage via console. Thank you so much for your work!
A while ago I picked up Fanatical Prospecting as an audiobook and I would recommend it if you’re getting started. Its all about the mindset needed to thrive in sales. One thing it will do is help you decide if sales is for you.
I use PowerBI every day and there is no free way to learn (last I checked) because MS requires you to have a business account for it, even for their tutorial when I tried it. I recommend learning Salesforce and Tableau instead if you don’t have a corporate account. They are similar yet more sophisticated products (imo), so what you learn there can still transfer over to PowerBi and they have the best free tutorial / certificate platform I’ve ever tried called Salesforce Trailhead.
Similar to SimpleLogin, BurnerMail.io has been pretty good. Its a bit of a pain on mobile as you have to use the website, but its worth the lack of spam for sure.
This was really interesting. I ran into this issue with Flask in particular for siloed multi tenancy and the end result was to create separate backend environments for simplicity. Maybe creating separate schemas could have been hacked together the way prisma-second does, but separate backends were simpler to code, deploy and document for everyone else. Consider the maintenance risk/burden of adding a dependency for a db driver and explaining odd architecture decisions to the business- and technical stakeholders.
Wow props to System76 for coming clean about this despite the fear of a huge public shaming/backlash from a disclosure like this. Although they took a decision of switching from SSR to SSG as a result, they shouldn’t think that really fixes vulnerabilities in the future. I believe SSG is overall the ‘less secure’ of the two, but no tech stack is perfect and its mostly a matter of use case and performance, not security that should be the decisive factor. At least it wasn’t another Wordpress or PHP breach.
Sounds interesting. Do you know of a good non Reddit place to learn more about this? Googling, I only found light articles sparingly, but idk where to look for communities of people talking about it. I’m curious what tools you (or y’all) use to trade with this strategy.
They don’t mention email 2fa in the page. Is that considered insecure now? Would be really nice for people like me who don’t install the app because i don’t want every link to GH to open there.
Check out Hydra for Postgres, its an extension to create columnar tables for data warehouse type of analytics. Disclaimer: I’m associated with them as they sell managed services, but the extension is open source.
Zoho has a great free tier email hosting with custom domain and the cheapest paying tier I’ve found. Been using it for years without a problem. The first paying tier allows for IMAP/POP, while the free tier only allows webmail access.
Your comment is so true it hurts. I’m a puerto rican who lived through Hurricane Maria in the island in 2017. The hurricane took out our entire power grid and multiple cell towers for months. After the hurricane the only form of communication in my area was a single radio station and my family could only listen using car radios. Cell service took months to restore in my area. I just remember hearing that lonely radio host’s voice every day for over a week with devastation in his voice as he shared the news coming in of the disaster.
For us, the hurricane was literally an apocalyptic event and I can’t imagine trying to keep my sanity if we didn’t have radios or any communication. I can’t imagine anywhere in the US going through that either.
To your question, there’s the obvious freelance sites, but also working on open source can be rewarding in more ways than one. I found a couple companies in a conference that were looking for open source solution consultants part time / custom time.
If you can’t find them online, I can check my conference swag to see if I find the name.
A prime example from the Systems Thinking post. Errors of commission are the only thing that matters for your company and it is allergic to change/disruption from top to bottom.
Wow what an elegant design. I tried the web version from mobile even after all the warnings and it wasn’t bad at all. I’m definitely trying out the desktop versions later.
Wow. It’s unfortunate that so many programmers dedicate their time to breaking systems like this all for spam. It’s pathetic the lengths we have to go to protect even the most basic parts of systems like sign up forms.
