cryowaffle··on Ask HN: What skills would you invest in learning?
I think "sigh" implies low work satisfaction. OP didn't come here for a therapy session, he wants to learn new valuable skills!
cryowaffle··on Nginx with dynamic upstreams
top 3 google responses for "elb static ip" say you can't, the truth may vary
cryowaffle··on Amazon Web Services revenue rises 81% year over year
Are you trying to protect your identity or just make sure the bill doesn't go over a set amount? If the latter then it shouldn't matter if ID is required.
cryowaffle··on Match Group Buys PlentyOfFish for $575M
Winner here
cryowaffle··on A Neural Network in 11 Lines of Python
Pretty trivial if you have a math library, I don't see anything here that is special. Why not give it a shot yourself?
cryowaffle··on Working at Microsoft (2004)
All blogs should be required to have datestamps! :)
cryowaffle··on Twitter Reports Weak Earnings and the Stock Is Crashing
Ya'll need to chill out and look at a price chart of TWTR over time. This is very common run-of-the-mill volatility.

cryowaffle··on Nginx 1.8.0 stable has been released
This is what iteration looks like. Would you like to not have the opportunity to see smaller releases? You can look away.
cryowaffle··on The third Los Angeles: Can it truly become a green, sustainable city?
Sorry to be "that guy" but it was news to me.
cryowaffle··on My Y Combinator experience
Well no, but it was the most obvious. ;) Ok, ok, I kid.
cryowaffle··on My Y Combinator experience
Is your shift key broken? This is funny because it's clearly intentional. I know you have one because you made the parentheses. Ohh, and you made the YC uppercase, no way we can lowercase that.
cryowaffle··on A Heroin Dealer Tells the Silk Road Jury What It Was Like to Sell Drugs Online
I see... at first I thought you were complimenting America's drug rehab programs and then I read "country like mine" and quickly realized my error.
cryowaffle··on Coinbase Exchange
Colorado: not available in your state
cryowaffle··on Lars Andersen: a new level of archery [video]
Probably quite a few, but what's your point? That he shot enough arrows that it eventually hit without requiring significant skill? I tend to believe his success is above that of chance.
cryowaffle··on Scroll Slow. Have Fun
I see, you have to use the scroll bar which goes one pixel at a time. This doesn't work for me if I use my scroll wheel on my mouse. It works if I grab the scroll bar and move downward.
cryowaffle··on Scroll Slow. Have Fun
Am I doing something wrong? I don't see anything interesting. I see black lines and some art scrolling behind the lines. Is there some sort of illusion this is supposed to create?
cryowaffle··on Chat over SSH
Nice, although everyone is just trying it out willy nilly and exposing the usernames on their computer
cryowaffle··on iCloud Apple ID Brute Forcer
I really think you are missing the point here. And why are you so exasperated? Take a break man.
cryowaffle··on View hidden photos of anyone on Facebook
This site is free to post to and is largely driven by upvotes from free accounts. There is no inherent moderation (sure there is a lot of vote ring moderation) that would prevent an article from hitting the frontpage.
cryowaffle··on How we hacked the hotel industry to save $200+ per night
This is my default technique when traveling to a city: check for free conventions that have hotel deals.
cryowaffle··on Development of billing system with Django framework
Money should be represented in the base unit, for dollars that is cents. So for your sum fields it should be sum_in_base_units = 859 not 8.59. Decimal can lose accuracy as you move around systems, it's most safe to just use base units.
cryowaffle··on How My Book Launch Went
No offense but every comment in this thread reads like a shill.
cryowaffle··on Reverse OCR
... that's a pretty interesting idea!
cryowaffle··on Sean Rad Out as Tinder CEO
Not really, if you read it as "Sean Rad is Out and he is the Tinder CEO"
cryowaffle··on The hammer-feather drop in the world’s biggest vacuum chamber [video]
Can someone explain to me the last part about the items standing still and no force acting on them? Isn't gravity acting on them, pulling the earth and items together?
cryowaffle··on Tim Cook Speaks Up
Good on him, nice work Tim.
cryowaffle··on PPA Impounds UberX Vehicles in Undercover Sting Operation
He pretty clearly said "... never been more true when it comes to ride sharing companies."
cryowaffle··on What makes for a stable marriage?
>> It's sad how much of a difference money makes. Ideally, money would have no bearing on love or marriage. I'd like to think that if I was well-off (or if my spouse was) and then something disastrous happened, that we would still support each other throughout.

Marriage are bonded over factors more than love and people in love get divorces. The money aspect of the study is simply showing that the more money a couple has the less likely non-love factors are able to break up a marriage. Seems completely reasonable to me.

cryowaffle··on Mozilla Brick
Yes LEGO can be used with technology it's not a thing typically associated with "tech".
cryowaffle··on Tor executive director hints at Firefox integration
While I agree with you I think there are two factors here (1) only a small fraction of the hundreds of millions would actually try out a Tor-private-browsing-mode and (2) tor won't grow until it is further strained (yes I know it is strained now). This would be great and would push innovation to solve the traffic problems.
