crossman··on Netflix acquires the global streaming rights to 'Seinfeld'
In my experience my non-american friends never really seemed to get Seinfeld or find it very appealing. Seems like the global part of this isn't that significant from that perspective
crossman··on Small towns in much of the country are dependent on punitive fines and fees
Valid, and I don't know what the total fines are, but if the speed cameras alone netted 3.2 million last year it seems quite plausible that fines are accounting for 10% or more if I'm reading this report correctly http://www.providenceri.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Accou...

But you know, I'm not an accountant

crossman··on Small towns in much of the country are dependent on punitive fines and fees
I'm genuinely surprised not to see any Rhode Island cities/towns on this. Speed cameras have shown up like a plague in Providence in the past year and are expected to spread throughout the state.

crossman··on Why ['1', '7', '11'].map(parseInt) returns [1, NaN, 3] in JavaScript
Yeah.. Didn't even need to load the article. You're passing the index as the radix. Makes sense
crossman··on Planetary Transfer Calculator
That video has some flaws which are covered in this helpful article from Phil Plait https://slate.com/technology/2013/03/vortex-motion-viral-vid...
crossman··on Sprayprinter – A graffiti robot startup
When I clicked this the title was asking how this was working. I think that's what this user was answering
crossman··on Producing industrial hydrogen from biomass
That was my first thought too.
crossman··on Google has added DuckDuckGo as a search engine option for Chrome users
> So presumably this means they're seeing a lot more DuckDuckGo searches in the data they're collecting from Chrome users

There's a lot to unpack in that statement... Is there any recent analysis on the usage stats that chrome is reporting back that someone could point to?

crossman··on Spotify to Apple: Time to Play Fair
That was my first thought. The kerning is so bad that some of this is just unreadable
crossman··on Don’t Get Clever with Login Forms
Yeah I was looking at that one thinking something was off. I log in to my delta account frequently with a password manager and haven't had an issue. I guess that's why

crossman··on Deliveroo users are getting defrauded
This comment needs to be the top one on this story. It seems the writer is missing this point entirely. It's very poor practice from Deliveroo and their support team. But there is a big difference between breach through negligence of the data controller and accounts being compromised by user negligence.

crossman··on Facebook Is Now Rating Users Black Mirror Style
Are you talking about credit scores because if that's the case you have completely misunderstood credit karma's product
crossman··on The single most important criteria when replacing GitHub
Couldn't agree more. It seems naive to think that source control would be a good system for the kind of operations performed in issue tracking

crossman··on Show HN: Key&Pad. A Web Audio Synthesizer/XY-Pad Built with React.js and Redux
Really nice work. I love the attention to detail. The anonymous storage is great, but it'd be cool to provide a link so we can share our sessions (or specific parts of our sessions) with other people
crossman··on Recharts – A composable charting library built on React components
How does this compare to victory (https://github.com/FormidableLabs/victory)?
crossman··on Moving to GitLab: Yes, it's worth it
FWIW, I recently transferred my side project from bitbucket to gitlab and I'm really happy with it. The issue tracker is significantly better, and the built in CI seems great but I haven't started using it yet since I already have codeship going.
crossman··on Mercedes-Benz shows off the first fully electric heavy urban transport truck
I remember noticing it when I first moved there but you get used to it very quickly. I was always amused at how much my family commented on it when they came to visit because I didn't really register it anymore.
crossman··on Mercedes-Benz shows off the first fully electric heavy urban transport truck
I lived in Fulham for 2 years and on the one or two days that Heathrow was shut down there was a strange unsettling silence. It would usually take a good 15 minutes to realize there wasn't a plane flying overhead every 90 seconds.
