I struggle with this one. If they don’t know how to do X, find people that do and hire them as civil servant, with a slightly less than average salary.
I know it’s not that trivial, but I don’t see why conceptually it cannot be fixed?
( asking as a new us citizen btw; I voted for the first time a few month back. Yes, this place is fucked. I will probably not retire here. Or even stay that long.
But there is a few things going for us. For instance direct democracy is more alive than most. Electing judges, specifically in that debatable precedent system… is really powerful and readily accessible.)
The spasms I see are good ones in my book. Yes, that will be bumpy soonish. But I see life there as many fold more agreeable than in rural US ( that I only now superficially; one short decade )
But that’s only me; and I’m culturally very French so no surprise in my preferences either
My understanding is that your income and work contracts are inspected, and that banks can see your other loans / lines of credit.
The rule of thumb is that your loans payment must not be above 1/3 of your income.
To check your income the bank will ask you for a tax document and pay stubs.
People buy house and cars, and the country did not start the sub primes crises in 2008.
Seems to work well enough.
I grew up in rural France. Small village have shops, bars, services like post-office, hair-dresser and whatnot. It's not a dichotomy between things and absence of things.
Suburbs would be fine in my own personal book if they were offering basic services and a sense of comunauty.( not in warehouse operated by large chain, but by people living there and earning a livehood out of it )
Totally get your point about being left alone, but I still want the place I live and raise my kids to be a network of humans sharing a sense of belonging. Not private lots next to each other.
The other was deeply ingrained in my understanding. That’s good news. I need to do my own research, like the crackpots are saying.
Anyway. What I read is : having something else on the side can make solar dispatchable. Realistically, what would be that other things ?
Nuclear don’t like to be turned on/off. Wind has the same issue… are we saying the good ol’ coal burning kettle ?
Reconciliation was still happening every 24h tho.
Do we know how to store it properly yet? How does solar pan out in case of surge ( eg : very cold winter night )
What happen when we run out of that ?
I do have two question about solar
- is it “drivable” / “pilotable” ?
meaning reacting to surge in the grid? My understanding is that this feature is highly desirable for a grid.
- can we actually build enough solar panel, physically ?
Don’t we need some rare earth thingy that is not in sufficient quantity on our planet as far as we know ? ( follow up : if there is enough, will there be enough in 200 years ? )
The settings :
Giant industrial corporation, giant projects with other giant corps as clients.
Process process process. SAFe Scrum.
Somehow I ended up in a team that started to care. Like, we, small individual team, had a agenda and a goal. We saw path to success for this mess of a giant project.
And we started to shadow work our way thought it.
At first myself and another senior guy. As a hobbit.
But it became prevalent for the team as a whole to do “prep work” on top of our tickets.
We self organize, self train.
Why? So we can move faster and actually deliver.
Our normal ticket we’re adjacent work. It’s not like we started 30 repo on the side.
Finally our scrum master caught on that. She went onboard.
We repurposed tickets like nobody’s business. Acceptance criteria was a mere indication, because the QA folks were on board as well.
Not to less us merge crap, QA is QA and you don’t go to prod with a buggy industrial system. That shit is dangerous:
but they knew where we were going and were fine with changing the AC if they see progress, and if the black market scrum master say we’re gonna have a black market ticket to fix it.
We delivered. It fucking worked. My favorite part ? We were the “bad” team. The team without a cool project or a decent backlog. The cleanup crew.
Maybe it’s been added in the face or HN grumpyness? ( tbh : I would not have give anything without those extracts, so your comments in on point )
Let me give you an email in exchange of that bag of tricks.
Out of curiosity: what’s happening with the email? ( out of honesty: you will get my spam ridden gmail ;) )

Title 2 above seems to describe a government appointed regulator in case of failure.
I’m sure between various version there is difference in what is produced.
Unless you can ask word for the equivalent of a postscript ?
The circumstances seems to be “we Know you conducted illegal trade on that phone” ?
If you happen to read French the appeal court publish a good technical summary.

Par conséquent, en l’espèce, la décision de la cour d’appel est cassée et une autre cour d’appel est désignée pour rejuger l’affaire.
You loop and branch in ansible/terraform
I hate that setup but also I have a hard time thinking of something else
As a result I planned for that phone stopping to work and my understanding is that I will be able to emergency 2FA with those code once it broke. Am I wrong?
But at this point with records... I don't care. I declare a Integer 'bla' and a 'getBla()' is made available by the IDE right way. Sometimes the records fields end-up being accessible without the getter. ( declaring the record in another class for instance...). But that is also a moot point : all the data they are holding is final and I know what can be null or not.
