We have a web app that two translators use initially independently to translate our entire corpus. The app then asks them to select the best option where there are mismatches (they can also enter a third alternative). There are a couple of rounds of this.

Finally an editor has access to all rounds of the translation in an editable table (http://i.imgur.com/zPJp0sz.png) where they can see who has inputted what, and wether things have been marked as 'acceptable' or 'completely wrong'.

This works well on most of our short/simple strings.

It also helps that we have two voice actors who are also native speakers come in and record the script, where any further errors or better translations can come up.

We do this because we're translating with different goals than the majority of translation purposes. We need to focus on translating for speech at relatively low volume and for those learning a non-native language. Most translation shops focus on written language for native speakers, high volume, speed and cost.

I can't wait to see how hackable these things are. Decent processor, HDMI out, WiFi, 1GB RAM… pretty decent package.

I know there are other cheap android sticks out there but one with a remote for $39 is pretty tempting.

I tried to replicate your problem but I can only seem to do it when holding the 6 with just the forefinger and thumb (right handed).

What are you other three fingers doing? I tend to grip with thumb on the right edge, index finger resting on the back and last 3 fingers holding the right edge.

The current distribution is handled at the school level - this isn't about individual's devices. I highly suggest you read the report by the University of Nottingham before jumping to conclusions.

If you read one billion's materials, iPads are used as they last longer in the environment they're kept in and get better battery life. When you're charging for a day's use from solar, that matters.

The apps are also written in a cross platform framework. If a good enough Android tablet comes along, it can be used. Their Maths age 3-5 app is available on Google Play.
