complianceowl··on FBI director says disinformation campaigns 'never stopped' after 2016 elections
Honestly, I feel stupid right now. I shouldn't have said what I said. This is what I hate about debating online. It's so easy to devolve into exactly what I don't want to be: a hateful, inflammatory person. I want to sincerely apologize to you for being a disrespectful idiot - and I mean every word of that. I sincerely hope this is the last time I ever stoop this low and disrespect someone. Again, I'm sincerely sorry for my words man.

I provided specific examples of events that actually transpired. Stop lying.

Allow me to address your grey comment.

By accusing me of “parroting” and saying that the irony in my post is “incredible” might show how you feel, but does nothing to address my post. You provided a lot of emotion, zero facts — and nothing even remotely close to a substantive counter in your reply.

And for that reason, I’m out.

complianceowl··on Not everyone has an internal monologue
It's good to know I'm not alone. Mine isn't that intense; I only do this several times a day, but when driving or in the shower, I am frequently giving speeches in front of thousands, or debating publicly on live television. I constantly call myself out on aspects where I'm weak, and correct myself. I don't schedule time or do this deliberately; it kind of just happens. But what I've found is that is has helped me so much in my face-to-face communication at work.

Understood. I read the guidelines, and will continue accordingly. HN is a great community. I don't want to chip away at that. Thanks Dang.

I got -4 for my question? I can feel the CCP spirit.
complianceowl··on Trapped in Iran: My Summer as a Guest of the Revolutionary Guards
That's a great point. It can be tempting to completely divorce them, but you make an important point here: they can't.
complianceowl··on Trapped in Iran: My Summer as a Guest of the Revolutionary Guards
I really want to visit Iran, as well. As an American, I love the look on people's faces when I tell them that.

I also think it's important to distinguish between the government and the people. It can be easy to see them as one and the same, but that would be a mistake.

Peter Santenello opened my eyes to Iran. I couldn't believe how pro-America so many Iranians are; the culture seems so rich, and the people so pleasant.

I highly, highly, highly recommend you check out Peter's vlog series in Iran (https://www.youtube.com/user/santenello?app=desktop).

Jimmy,

I can only say this man. Your comment history on HN worries me. It's very, very negative, and hear me out. I'm not putting you down, but when there is anger or bitterness in one's heart that hasn't been dealt with, it's easy to only see, or even create, negativity in life.

I don't want to argue with you. Just know that you can make a decision to root for others, uplift people with your comments on HN, and sometimes just totally pass up opportunities to argue and move on to a positive comment.

Jumping from argument to argument on HN will only create anger and hate in your heart.

I could be totally wrong. This is just my opinion. Regardless, I wish you the best man.

> Maybe the best way to look at this kind of environment is that it's a different form of wealth.

Absolutely love how that was phrased. I couldn't agree more.

complianceowl··on Working for someone vs. doing your own thing
That's a great point. I can only speak for myself here, but I can 100% confirm that having been raised in a loving, secure, and stable home has probably been the greatest contributing factor to my career success and having a major inclination in life towards optimism.

The gratitude towards my parents alone has driven me to push myself harder in my career.

complianceowl··on Ask HN: Joining Big Tech in One’s 40s
I appreciate the response.
complianceowl··on Ask HN: Joining Big Tech in One’s 40s
It's actually NOT okay to be disrespectful. Saying someone's response was "arrogant" is not disrespectful; calling them stupid for being arrogant - that would be disrespectful.

Perceiving my comment to be disrespectful, I think, is a part of the larger societal problem that exists today; namely, of people being overly-sensative.

Friend, I will gently invite you to toughen up.

I stopped using Chrome about 2-months ago. It was difficult at first, simply because I was so used to it. But you are 100% right; I couldn't imagine going back to Chrome now that I've made the switch.
complianceowl··on Ask HN: Joining Big Tech in One’s 40s
Not to be disrespectful, but your response sounds like those arrogant Stack Overflow responses that are simply not helpful. There is enough in his question for anyone to provide a proper answer.
