I was the creative co-founder of The Mysterious Package Company (mysteriouspackage.com) and we - gasp - sold mysterious packages. It was a wild idea pitched by my cofounder, to which I was a hesitant buy-in, but the impact we had on people is astonishing.

Rich stories, physical things (letters, puzzles, hair..), and a customized elements are still extremely rare to find in a product offer.

I'm no longer involved (and I didn't get rich), but I'm still proud of the experiences we created for the human bonding that occurred after delivery.

To this day there are people who come up to me saying "You!! I couldn't sleep for a week!" or "You!! My father and I went over your aged documents with a fine tooth comb and they were _REAL_." I'm so proud to have given these people a moment of awe and wonder.

Fwiw all the carts in the photo are only the Lighting and Grip departments. That doesn't include Costume, Hair, Makeup, Special Effects, Sound, Stunts, Props, Camera, and other departments I'm probably missing that work on-set.

And of course it doesn't include all the off-set work like Art Department, Production Office, Construction.

And that still doesn't include all the post-production work like Sound, Editing, VFX, and more.

Plan major work in 3 hour chunks. Have a snack and pee before you begin. Check texts. Mute notifications.

Have water and a drink of choice (coffee, diet cola, tea) prepared for your journey.

I'd make a constant list of ideas I have: The great, the silly, and the weird. And then I'd make them happen.

I just love making stuff, but need to work for money, and use my time to work.

But I'm working on freeing up both of those in the coming months.

The only shared resource is a whiteboard on the fridge. It has immediate lists (ie: Phoned 3 plumbers, these are quotes for work to be done and phone number.) and immediate purchase lists (milk, eggs, prescriptions) and immediate ToDos (call Aunt Tracey re:insider trading).

Small whiteboard means it gets cleared and refreshed frequently.

I schedule myself a week at a time, and she prefers a month at a time. So before I schedule anything I speak with her. My family now contacts her to plan holidays however.

If you offer cash to customers then you are setting yourself up to receive reviews primarily from those who are in need of cash or have "spare" time. A person employed full-time who uses their tablet daily may be missed entirely.
