coffeenut··on Ask HN: Good books?
I believe it does, in the context of the story.

1) Hank Reardon wouldn't tolerate a life of (self) deception; knowing Dagny wanted Galt, and accepting that truth, was the only internally consistent course available.

2) Hank Reardon loved and respected Galt. If he had to give up Dagny to be able to continue to be a part of Galt/D'Ancona/Dagny's life, then his rational response was to do that.

3) Hank Reardon embodied the self-confidence that allowed him to see Dagny's preference for Galt was not a rejection of Hank, nor did that diminish Hank Reardon (e.g. your value isn't shaped by others).

coffeenut··on Would you leave a 6 figure job to start a company?
Yes, I just left a 6 figure income in July to do just that :)

I don't think the decision has anything to do with your income. If one isn't willing to risk a small part of their life without that safety blanket of a steady paycheck, they're probobably not cut out to be an entrepreneur. And if one is cut out to be an entrepreneur, no paycheck working for someone else will ever be sufficient.

coffeenut··on Ask HN: I've got an "algorithm-centric" interview soon and no CS degree. Help?
Not to be judgemental, but perhaps you should ask yourself whether you'll be happy with (and able to perform the duties of) a job that you crammed for to pass the interview loop. Sounds like you may end up getting in over your head.

That being said, internalizing the following is a good place to start:

basic tree (or more generally graph) algorithms and structures

  sort algorithms

  recursion

  principles of OOP

  probability

  memory manipulation

  stack/heap principles

There's a bunch more, but that sort of stuff comes up often in interviews. The main point, however, is that you need to internalize it. Just reading about it, you won't be able to really apply it in a high pressure situation like an interview loop.

Good luck!

coffeenut··on Ask HN: Best Plug Computer or energy efficient server?
It looks like GuruPlug is closer to 15W (3A @ 5V).
coffeenut··on Chattanooga Announces Nation's Only 150 Mbps Residential Internet Offer
CondoInternet.net offers 200Mbps/200Mbps (up/down) at certain condos in the downtown Seattle area. They claim they have a tier that goes up to 500Mbps, but I've never seen it available anywhere.

They have nowhere near the market penetration of this company though.
