have you checked https://the-deadline.appspot.com ?

edit: they are one of the HackFwd startups

coffeejunk··on Hacker News Munich Meetup
it was fun seeing you all. looking forward to the next event :)
coffeejunk··on Hacker News Munich Meetup
I'll be there.
coffeejunk··on Corkboard app, all in HTML/CSS/Javascript
png and jpg are now working :)
coffeejunk··on Corkboard app, all in HTML/CSS/Javascript
doesn't matter if i press enter or not.

creating a new note by double clicking would be nice, since the rate of notes created by mistake would be lower :) plus the image url feature doesn't work with any of my browsers (Mac OSX 10.6.5 Safari 5, Chrome 8, Firefox 4)
coffeejunk··on Skype for Mac 5.0 beta released
+group chat

-cpu still an issue -new groups ordering is somewhat confusing. i don't want a ridiculously big window listing all my online contacts with WAY to much whitespace around. i want my groups :( -hud contact list is always on top, that is seriously annoying -the hud window gives no feedback/options to me (except double clicking, which opens the other BIG window with the chat) -the cover flow contact list is just.. and the list goes on

coffeejunk··on Several Hundred Thousand Germans Opt Out of Google Street View
The problem is that it's a unhealthy mix of missinformation, summer slump politics and unreasonable fear, with a little dash of propaganda.

One more thing: If a potential employer won't hire me, because the facade of the house i live in looks like a mess, I don't want to work for this employer. (The same thing is true for drunken Oktoberfest pictures on Facebook or whatnot.)

coffeejunk··on Ask HN: tips for working with Mac OS X without using the mouse? (RSI)
An interesting thing about osx shortcuts is that you can change almost all of them with system prefs -> keyboard -> keyboard shortcuts. (for programs individually and for the whole system)
coffeejunk··on Finally, Hacker Monthly Subscriptions
$10 per issue is insane. i'd love to order the subscription but this is just too much.
coffeejunk··on Ask HN: How to hand out free hacker tickets for the BoS conference?
The "easiest" way would be a page/thread/whatever where people could apply for such a scholarship. So first of all if I wanted to be at the conference but I could not afford it, I'd had to think about why I really want to be there and how I'd benefit from it. Then I'd had to elaborate why I cannot afford this in my current situation. Of corse if you do this you'd have to run through a lot of applications. You could higher the entrance barrier a little by setting a minimum word count, so that only people apply who would really benefit from this.

A not to unrelated question: Do you also cover the "winners" travel, etc. costs?

coffeejunk··on Want to meet in Cologne?
A meetup at the oktoberfest would be fun. :)
coffeejunk··on Ask HN: Good alternative to Gmail?
however these days you have to pay even for imap access. also the interface isn't that clean anymore and the whole site is filled up with ads. oh and you get gmx-ad mails all the time.
coffeejunk··on Common Programmer Health Problems
Honestly I never really understood this. If I don't take a shower in the morning, I'm simply not able to do anything.

The rest is just routine: new day -> new shirt; fresh cloth -> deodorant; sunday -> do laundry..

coffeejunk··on In German Suburb, Life Goes On Without Cars (2009)
Driving age is definitely a big factor, but also public transportation. The village I lived during my childhood had literally no public transportation. Therefore the only option to get anywhere was the bike.
coffeejunk··on In German Suburb, Life Goes On Without Cars (2009)
I now live in Munich, which also calls itself a bike town. Although there are a lot of people riding their bikes, the streets are not at all as bike friendly as the ones in Münster. Each trip is somewhere between a suicide mission and a pleasant journey depending on where you want to go.

I'm curious how many videos of this style will appear in the near future..

This library is now diamonds.
