codeyperson··on Facebook hacker beat my 2FA, bricked my Oculus, and hit the company credit card
As long as they don't get the full amount back then piracy will be the path of least resistance for that kind of abuse.
codeyperson··on Hacking a $200 Under Desk Exercise Bike
White (or brown) noise!
codeyperson··on Adjustable, low-impact keeb
Can confirm. I worked as an animator when I was young and that was very taxing on the hands.

I also worked as a designer and developed forearm pain from the Photoshop shortcuts.

Now I work as a programmer and things are a lot easier. But I suspect it’s only a matter of time before even this is too much and I’ll need to change it up again.

codeyperson··on Google is accelerating reopening of offices and putting limits on remote work
Nothing wrong with socialising at work. If you’re spending a third of your day working, it may as well be enjoyable.
codeyperson··on Remain Calm: The fox is still in the Firefox logo
Did you actually read it though? The point of the article was that they didn’t change the logo.
codeyperson··on HTML5 still doesn't replicate what mattered about Flash
You’re missing his point which he has stated very plainly in the first sentence of the message you’re replying to:

> The point is that flash was both the technology and the tools

codeyperson··on Trump Is Considering Clemency for Silk Road Founder
I bet there’s Bitcoin in it for Trump. Money seems to be his primary motivator.
codeyperson··on Ask HN: I am interviewing product managers – questions to ask?

codeyperson··on The Rise and Fall of Getting Things Done
I think a lot of these problems would go away if we’d all just SLOW DOWN a little bit. The endless pursuit for more productivity is exhausting.

Let’s pad those estimates a little. Have a laugh at the standups and the retro’s. And enjoy ourselves.

codeyperson··on The world needs nuclear power and we shouldn’t be afraid of it
What about the opportunity cost of having a planet to live on?
codeyperson··on Minecraft will require a Microsoft account to play in 2021
I think mcv may have meant that the single Microsoft account could give access to both versions.

Currently I believe if you have Mojang account for the Java version, you cannot use that account to access the Bedrock version.

codeyperson··on Show HN: Lofimusic.app, an open source Background Music Progressive Web App
Me too! I can't have it too loud though. But same song, on loop for an hour or so. I think the feeling of the headphones over my ears acts as an unconscious trigger to concentrate too.
codeyperson··on Tech firms face growing resentment of parent employees during Covid-19
Now consider that 18 hours of work for Waterluvian right now would be an 18 hour holiday. It's all relative.

It's a hard thing to grok without having experienced it. And yeah I realise how patronising that probably sounds.

If you haven't got a dog, you should get a dog!

Dogs give 80% of the happy good time feels and require 5% of the effort.

Source: have a child and a dog.

codeyperson··on One hour of slow breathing changed my life
It’s nothing to do with mucus. The size of the airway physically changes over time.
codeyperson··on What Unity Is Getting Wrong
At a previous job, one of my colleagues didn’t have the best vision. And had to run his computer at a really low resolution to compensate for the tiny text in the UI.

There’s an open issue that has been on the Unity website for years asking for font size support in the editor. But it has never been addressed.

codeyperson··on What Unity Is Getting Wrong
Unity offers so much beyond your narrow experience.

I’ve made tonnes of games in Unity and never experienced either of these concerns.
