The reason why this doesn't work for the average person is because they don't have the infrastructure for it or they don't trade enough to get the commissions down to make it profitable. Shorting comes with additional fees.

Is there a recommended broker or website? I googled a few of those "transfer facilitators" and they looked sketchy to me with many of them asking you to contact them for a price.
Is this going to lower the prices?
Many setups proxy everything but dns traffic.
That's why this topic is a thing.

I was recently a victim of a password cracking attempt from someone using a vpn. I tried reporting the incident by sending the logs to the vpn abuse email, and they ignored it. I looked into VPN company itself, and it was owned by some Russian in Panama. I tried emailing a lawyer there and he said that he couldn't help me because he did work for that person.
I have no doubt that most of the major vpn providers are similarly structured so that they can just ignore all complaints except from the largest corporations.

I don't think US internet infrastructure is ready for this unless you live downtown with 100+ mbit speeds.
That is laughably small.
And you can't deduct the losses from your other income while you can as a business.
When the proverbial knife is dropping, you don't want to catch it while it is in free fall, it will likely plunge below "fair value" in a panic.
Quants know this and most have programmed/taught their systems to pull out of the market or short when volatility goes up. It is happening right now. Liquidity since February has shriveled up.
Market research takes time and effort, just like programming does. If you do not already have an idea you know will make you money, you will need to put in the time and effort to find one instead of using that time making random websites. Some people do get lucky and find a niche without much effort, but that is likely not the case for most.
I've seen amazon ec2 ips being used for ddos attacks and I blacklist the entire range for many of my websites/projects. The vast majority of visitors we get from there are abusive.
The authorities will come after you first. Most large providers are located in some small country like Panama so they can't be sued or jailed.
True
It is harder for people to argue against the logic for manufacturing which is why I only mentioned that.
If everyone invested as much as they could, people wouldn't buy enough to drive company profits like you see today, or to be the last people holding the bags when a recession occurs.
Also stock markets don't go up forever, Japan's Nikkei topped in 1989, and as of now, has barely recovered half the value. Do you really think even index funds are risk free when you can have a 50% loss for 30 years?
