cms07··on SQL vs. NoSQL
This is crazy. Why wouldn't somebody want a schema?
cms07··on Who or What Broke My Kids?
It certainly can mean that they are less bright.
cms07··on The Makings of a Great Logo
A logo is nothing like a city layout.
cms07··on It's Different for Girls
I can't believe that you're receiving this poor of a response for acting like a normal person. It's as though everyone on HN is a hypersensitive person.
cms07··on Ask HN: What Linux distro do you use for work, and why?
Isn't it just a linux distro with gnome3?
cms07··on Coffee and its Effects on Feature Creep (2011)
I'm not sure how much it really says about feature creep. I mean, sure, features increased, but it was really more about how the people used it than anything.
cms07··on Lisp is for Stupid People
Isn't what he is suggesting just modularity in programming?
cms07··on The Conscience of a Hacker
This was actually the 80s, I believe.
cms07··on US DoD signs $617 million Windows 8 licensing deal
Apparently, 617 million dollars.
cms07··on Perl is Free Software's COBOL, and That's Ok
This again? Perl is actively used (by choice) by a good portion of the competent developers of this world. See Dancer and Catalyst for good examples of active web development. Perl being free software's COBOL makes sense if one is talking about shell scripts, but even then, those are necessary items, not just relics of a system with no incentive to change.
cms07··on Linux now on 42% of consumer computing devices
You really think that Microsoft is going to be able to make a push in consumer electronics? How?
cms07··on Things that the iPhone 5 can't do, that Android can [video]
So, widgets and NFC, then? I love Android as much as the next guy, but most of this is just grasping at straws for something to hate on the iPhone.
cms07··on New school C
I've got it, and though I haven't read much yet, it's definitely got some good stuff.
cms07··on GNU Typist
Why is this being submitted now? This is not recent.
cms07··on What Compsci textbooks don't tell you: Real world code sucks
If they are in college and don't have enough interest to already know that, then they are the problem..
cms07··on "Gun" "Control"
This is the entire purpose of the second amendment, like it or not. The people who wrote it knew that the first 5 amendments were protections against what they thought was tyranny. The ability to have the ability to wage civil war is an inherent right of any United States citizen, regardless of the non-existent right to actually wage it.
cms07··on The Case for Drinking as Much Coffee as You Like
Red herring. If Penn State coaches had bet on the games, that might be applicable.
cms07··on Extremist Programming
Or, you know, Unix.

Edit: Which came from Multics, I know.

cms07··on On the importance of gestures in public speaking
I don't think 1 to 0 is really a reliable result.
cms07··on Nuodb - a "NewSQL database". SQL on the outside, NoSQL on the inside
So it's got all the opacity of an RDBMS with none of the upsides? Great!

Quite frankly, as a developer, I prefer to use flat files (I guess these days we call that NoSQL), but for performance, I often must use Postgres or whatever fits the job.
