classics2··on After 36 years as a paid product, the Micro-Cap Circuit Simulator is now free
That’s what digital signatures are for. So yes.
classics2··on OnlyKey: Open-Source Alternative to YubiKey
Where are the cad files, bom and other data needed to manufacture the device?
classics2··on Apple’s Great GPL Purge (2012)
I can’t imagine why they would want software with viral licenses out of their codebase.
classics2··on Firefox 69.0 Released
Is rss still too hard for Firefox?
classics2··on Firefox has lots of room to improve if it wants to beat Chrome
But our metrics show nobody is using any features except for the ones that are identical to chrome.
classics2··on Banned from Google Ads for Using Apple Card
Reminds me of when I was permanently suspended from PayPal “for reasons” after 20+ years of constant patronage and good standing. Same black box mentality, no human being made the decision and no human being would look at the situation and fix it.

There really should be a catchy term for this sort of algorithmically generated deplatforming.

Google ganking?

classics2··on Did Donald Trump tweet classified military imagery?
So absolutey, yes.
classics2··on YouTube Said to Be Fined Up to $200M for Children’s Privacy Violations
That’s nothing compared to their ad revenue, not even a notable one time loss.
classics2··on Lorem Picsum, death by a million pixel-gigabits
Why would a stateless service need a database?
classics2··on Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic
Then it’s a corpse.
classics2··on Verizon to Sell Tumblr to Automattic
So they bought it, murdered it then sold it for scrap. How is this not considered gross financial incompetence?
classics2··on A Mexican Hospital, an American Surgeon, and a $5k Check
You’re mental if you think you can get a knee replacement for $12k in the us. People who make one trip to the Ed here, with insurance, for something simple like an infection end up with bills over $20k for little more than what ends up being an ultrasound, A lab test and a script for antibiotics.
classics2··on The PGP Problem
Poorly thought out and argued.
classics2··on Firefox 67
Metrics show very few users want a browser in their browser. HTML is old and dated.
classics2··on Crashplan bans particular filetypes and removes them from customer accounts
Business suicide is fun to watch.
classics2··on Firefox 67.0 Released
Is RSS still too hard for Firefox?
classics2··on AI Can Detect Alzheimer’s Disease Six Years Before a Diagnosis
Typically Alzheimer’s diagnoses are given with extreme reluctance, it changes how every person that interacts with that patient will view their condition, prognosis and treatment options.

I think that has more to do with the extended time frame than the actual ability of family and medical providers to see changes in a patient cognition and abilities.

classics2··on An algorithm kicks businesses out of food stamp program on dubious fraud charges
Uhh he did violate the terms of acceptance, nothing nebulous at all here. He violated, they actually gave him a process to try and prove his violations were not and he failed at that and was banned.

Very misleading title.

classics2··on Evolving the Firefox Brand
How about just making a couple decent products and stop trying to be a million other things nobody cares about?
classics2··on Krita in the Windows Store: an update
Dumb employee running amok here, but who cares he probably shows up on time for his shift.

Reminds me of people being banned for life from PayPal because their product names contained the word “emulator”, or for signing up before they were 18.. 20 years ago.

classics2··on Why the New V8 Is So Damn Fast
You have social icons floating over he text.
classics2··on What happens before main() is executed in C and why is it important?
Strange they looked into the topic and came to the completely incorrect conclusion.
classics2··on Stripe Atlas for LLCs
It’s unlikely you work for free and neither do the employees and lawyers at Stripe.
classics2··on Startup says it wants to fight poverty, but a food stamp giant is blocking it
Sounds like they are web scraping and got caught.
classics2··on What is empathy?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1Evwgu369Jw
classics2··on Mylo: A leather-like material made from mycelium
Tensile strength, tear resistance?
classics2··on “Pinterest needs to be removed from Google IMO”
Pinterest has no product. They only want traffic.
classics2··on Intel Publishes Spectre and Meltdown Hardware Plans: Fixed Gear Later This Year
Only in that you don’t be able to directly measure it anymore because the mitigation is buried in the performance data of a new processor.
classics2··on Programming ARM μC in Rust at four different levels of abstraction
> A GPIO pin starts out as an input; in that state, you can’t call the function set_high. It is a compile time error!

Which is throughly incorrect. Of course you can set the state of an output register that’s set to input, that state will just not appear on the pin.

classics2··on Intel hit with 32 lawsuits over security flaws
If the behaviors (bus timing logic and such) that are being used to spill information across process and privilege boundaries actually were fully documented, wouldn’t the liability fall on the people who used these chips to write multi-user environments without knowing or understanding the implications of the technical details?
