Aho and Ullman has a great book about Parsing, Translating and Compiling that I'm currently reading, it's not a either or thing - you
can learn about both and they are related to each other
Interesting phenomena. I don't see any issues with it really. Many influencers do plastic surgery and other modifications to themselves to be more popular, this is a healthier alternative
I spend a lot of time fixing iOS devices to relatives and friends. I think what you are referring to is just a myth created by the PR department at Apple
Human-friendlyness and bug-prevention is very important, of course everthing in Rust can be created in C or Assembler och in machine-code but the question is how feasible is it that a typical human can do it? Rust has a lot of potential I think
Google and Apple support is so
bad it's not even
possible to review the company at Google Reviews. I had one account banned once with no explanation and it was impossible to get an explanation, my advice is: just make a new account and accept the situation and move on with your life
But low-level languages also get translated by a parser so I don't see the difference.. Maybe you mean that languages has less abstractions and because of this simplier translations? Think I need to try Zig out to get a grip on it..
In all programming languages you must understand how the parser will understand and translate what you write, it sounds like Zig will always know your intentions and maximize your code, it sounds too good to be true
One important reason that is often overlooked is that static sites are cheaper to host since they don't require a preprocessor that consumes server resources. In the future maybe there is cheap hosting for Rust/C++ web preprocessors (resource-efficient = low cost) and static generators will be less of a thing..
The lack of control over hardware and software on contemporary Macs is a show-stopper for me. Once they get back to Snow Leopard ideology I'll return, until then it's Linux or Windows for me
The scientific revolution has indirectly produced a lot of bad things like nuclear wars, climate change, trash islands and more. I just get tired of ideological driven over-positive scientism which made me stop reading
Electron should be banned for the environments sake if the other reasons doesn't persuade, it's inefficient computation to energy ratio using Electron apps, when there is a lot of users like with VSCode or Slack it probably affects the global climate in a negative way
I agree, I think the word has lost it's instrumental value today, I read lately about "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends" are fascist and that people who believe in truth "realism is a fascist" is fascist. The discourse today is a discourse of accusing people of things to exclude them from discussions
Don't underestimate the placebo-effect of having a Dyson, regardless of it's physical effects. This is what you can do with a premium brand.. only a Dyson is like a Dyson
Same here, even if Google Meet, Skype, Teams, Slack et. al worked last week will it work now after latest firmware- and software update? Many times it doesn't without tweaks and the UI might have changed as well. I would like a external physical device I can use for video meetings that guarantee 100% working without needing to tweak anything, I think a lot of companies would be willing to pay for that
I don’t see why everyone needs to have the same opinion and editor, I’m fine with everyone using the editor they like best. It’s a tiresome endless debate
Sounds like ordinary fasting to me, except the concrete details, in the abstract sense it’s the same. Many Christian churches recommend phone / internet / computer fasting or just fasting from anything that occupies your mind daily
Both Google and YouTube contain stolen and illegal content. There are lots of full length pirate movies on YT for instance. It doesn’t make it right but I just mean all companies should be equally judged by rules and regulations
Often intelligent academic people can justify almost anything using their toolset of theories from different fields when they intuitively feel something is right. That intuitive feel is what really matters most anyway
PR for JetBrains? I think there are plenty of good looking JVM desktop apps which are equally or more good looking as JetBrains stuff. Electron and JVM is bad because they require a lot of resources and that occasionally JVM has security issues
