You need formatters with options so you set the options to fit your preferences and then when new people come in to the project you just say 'The formatter has no opinions, it just formats'
Philosophical Investigations has a lot of bug fixes that was in Tractus, when people want to discuss Wittgenstein they only want to discuss his early and not his more mature later work
Yeah I have 3 iPhone 6 from 6 years ago with new batteries but can't update iOS or install modern apps. No hardware issues at all but will have to throw them into the garbage for the sake of Apple software support policy
'Made by America' could be a marketing thing to try in the US. Sweden does it with Volvo cars and most people still believe Volvo cars are made in Sweden, the text is so similar you hardly notice the difference
You just need to update your hardware from time to time, not because the software needs it really, just because Apple needs to keep cash flowing in. I use the same apps on my iPhone 12 that I did on my iPhone 6, the only reason I upgrade is because Apple won't let me update the software without buying their new uneccessary hardware
I agree, it's a waste of screen estate and focus estate, I can't see the benefit of a minimap. I usually use imenu in Emacs so any definition is 0.1s away with a keypress
I agree it's fake, there is phones on the market that has phone and internet via satellite but you need a subscription and it's expensive. The average Joe don't have that. I think this is a PR-trick to suggest Apple is relevant and innovative, Apple after Jobs is safe and predictable and not exciting like this
Yeah the how is important when auditing the correctness of code. I would say "Never listen to an advice about never doing something, there is always a case were breaking the rules is good"
Dvorak is apparently better but lack of time and lack of keyboard customizability has stopped me from trying it out. I think that effort is the reason why it hasn't succeeded and never will
I believe in semantic class-names, I know one can transform tailwind into cleaner markup but it seems to introduce more work than just building from scratch
I think what is evident for all parents is the importance of cooling down the entire car, not just the driver or front passenger but all kids in the back, sometimes with a lot of stuff in the way of the vents
It's strange how this thing was not an opt-in feature at GitHub. I also feel like this thing is a violation of my integrity and I will consider stop using GitHub as well
Yes it seems better to whitelist specific explicit Linux-configurations (version, window-manager, sound-setup, etc). Like we officially support this, if you are using something else use the forums to discuss with other users but we will not investigate your issue.
This was the ideal for the Enlightenment, because the truth is good and from God. However we now live in the postmodern philosophy were truth is merely a political instrument and has no longer a holy status
I would turn the argument around and say that what we usually diagnose as ADHD or ASD are infact many different brain variations. Having for example ADHD doesn't mean your brain has any similiarity to another ADHD brain. The diagnosis does not involve physical brain measurements in any way
No I think the author works at Google and have a couple of hours weekly or monthly to do "experiments", but the employment terms forces the ownership of the "experiments" to Google but since the projects may not align with Googles image or reputation they wish not to be officially associated with it. They own it but do not "stand behind it" officially
"We use the digits 0 to 9 to represent 10 unique values, which not uncoincidentally matches the number of fingers on our hands."
I disagree with this statement, humans use fingers on one hand to represent 0-5 (6 distinct values) and fingers on two hands to represent 0-10 (11 distinct values)
yes it is really bad, the UIs for PMs was better 10 years ago, thinking about ICQ, Adium, MSN Messenger and the like. You could export history as file and easily scroll and search them
Semantic is used less and less I would say, there is not enough people involved in keeping it and it's grammars updated, it also suffers lack of asychronicity. Tree-sitter and LSP has the advantage of re-using code for multiple editors
