I've been manager and an IC (currently IC)
The biggest concern I'd have for you in the manager role is that you're inheriting a team. I was lucky enough to have built a team from scratch once (by recruiting from within the company, and a few new hires) as well as inheriting a team once.
You never know what you're going to get by inheriting a team, they could be resistant to change. There could be one person who causes more harm than good but is very difficult to fire for some reason or another. They could also all be awesome. I would say, if you've not already done so to ask for the ability to meet with the team you'd be managing.
I really should delete it too but I just never log in.
They couldn't add the email, they said the system was telling them it was an invalid email. Inaccurate email validation in the wild... I suspect the system has a list of known TLDs and that didn't exist when their system was created. Or even worse, they have some hardcoded list of known email providers...
Only because of domain squatters...
I've heard countless times that Postgres is better and I've watched talks where they show how loosey-goosey MySQL is with some things but I know how to backup, restore, tune, secure and replicate MySQL. I grok it's permissions in depth more than I ever have with Postgres and I've even written a mysql plugin in C so I have that in my toolbox if I need it. So I'd by default, usually go with MySQL (or in some cases SQLite.) but if I didn't have to administer or maintain it, and someone else was handling that I think I'd be fine with Postgres too.
RDS/Aurora was our most expensive resource so we were looking at ways to cut that cost down and mysql was one option (though the way the app worked and the extensions that it relied on made it not a possibility.)
Everything is terrible.
Aren't there already things in place for that info (e.g. meta tags?)
The folks who got in early and made millions in Crypto reaped the benefit but no new comers could ever realize the same potential because we've taxed the snot out of it. Closed that loop hole (not that I have much faith in crypto anyway.)
FWIW I do not support the crypto space either, but if they want to use a computer to run an infinite loop for the end of time that's their business.
Perhaps spending more effort on improving the power grid and using more renewable resources would be a better effort?
Still, it's interesting. I think she has a unique voice so perhaps it'll be utilized. I generally like her music though and have a few of her albums.
Has Laravel never had "Issues" on Github? The missing "Issues" link on the repo is the only odd thing that sticks out to me.
User agents (browsers) tallying up an estimated C02 emissions for a session? That'd require a lot of buy in from sites and I don't expect many to adopt this or give out that info. Also, does google want you to use your browser less? Probably not...
That web application is still in use, in production, today.
