It’s not better than codex / GPT in my experience. But it’s quite good. I’d say it’s useful and fast and with Cursor CLI is pretty capable with good limits for just $20 /mo. But Codex $100 plan is hard to beat.
It’s trivially easy to run a TUI in a container. Not so much with GUIs. And, since I run as much as possible in containers, and as little as possible on my host machine, I much prefer TUIs.
For me, I realized how insufferable my smart friends were, and I looked at people who I admired and whose company I enjoyed, and I realized humility was a key trait among the people I liked best. I’m still insufferable, though, but hopefully less than before!
If you’re talking about internet clients, I think the real world provides sufficient jitter. If you’re talking about a fleet of clients on your 10gbps network, jitter might be useful.
I'm using it, though I'm leery of how the project is run. It's been great, to be honest. I have been able to build very low-dependency projects quite quickly. Bun's documentation is decent, and its underlying features are performant.
Well, those people would be opposed to using spellcheck and grammar tools, too, I guess. I don’t think there’s a reasonable argument against using AI to spellcheck/check your grammar other than that it’s hugely inefficient.
I moved a while back when Claude started refusing to do security audits and also failed to run properly in my sandbox without a lot of wrangling. Renamed Claude.md to agents.md and had no problems at all. There’s almost 0 switching cost.
My friends in the cattle industry told me that one of Bill Gates’s companies is buying up pasture land and driving up prices across the midwest, too. I don’t know exactly how you’d legally prevent it, but it does seem like a problem.
But, it could happen for a coding-focused model, or an accounting-focused model, etc. most tasks only need a subset of the total model to be done effectively.
Yeah. No spinners. No pulsing gray placeholders that sit there for minutes and then shift the content when they load. No 10GB video playing in the background. My laptop didn't even get hot or spin up the fans when I viewed this page.
We have around 27 million cattle (in the US) today. There were something like 30-50 million bison in the US before we almost eradicated them. Were the bison equally bad? Or is the problem that we’re feeding these ruminants unnatural diets?
Incidentally, I’d love to see the Great Plains return to huge roaming ruminant populations, and find a way to build our meat industry around that.
A better workaround is to install Linux. My entire operating system, which includes Niri window manager and Dank Linux running a weather app, among many other things takes less around 1 gig of ram.
Great post. I’m impressed with your English skills. Turkish is a very different language, so I can’t imagine it’s easy to pick up English. Anyway, you inspired me to try doing this with one of my old devices. Gonna put that on my September hacking list.
