chasers··on Discord Is Having an Outage
And I think I read that each ‘server’ gen_server lives on one actual server.
chasers··on Handling 350k Requests for $3 using Lambda
Cloudflare is $0.50 per million.
chasers··on CouchDB 3.0
I'm doing this with BigQuery for Logflare (logflare.app).
chasers··on Show HN: Search code in GitHub repos using regular expressions
How do you handle expensive regex statements?
chasers··on Launch HN: PostHog (YC W20) – open-source product analytics
How do you plan on monetizing?

edit: whoops didn’t read.

chasers··on Elasticsearch from the Bottom Up (2013)
I built https://logflare.app for exactly this.
chasers··on Fast and flexible observability with canonical log lines
We do exactly this with Logflare and send stuff to BigQuery.
chasers··on Netlify Analytics
I built Logflare for Cloudflare. A good example of what you’re talking about I think. https://logflare.app
chasers··on An update about Redis developments in 2019
This >> "An important thing to realize is that Redis has not a solid roadmap, over the years I found that opportunistic development is a huge win over having a roadmap. Something is demanded? I see the need? I’m in the mood to code it? It’s the right moment because there are no other huge priorities? There are a set of users that are helping the design process, giving hints, ideas, testing stuff? It’s the right moment, let’s do it."
chasers··on Show HN: Tail -f Your Cloudflare Logs
Good point! I should make that obvious on the homepage probably.
chasers··on Show HN: Tail -f Your Cloudflare Logs
Use a Cloudflare worker to POST logs to Logflare and they'll be streamed to your browser. We also have rules you define with regex so you can route log entries to different sources. Good for saving important events like signups, bots, etc.

Open source and on Github: https://github.com/Logflare/

I built this to primarily learn Elixir and Phoenix but wanted to build something useful. A lot of the code is probably terrible but it seems to work well.

chasers··on Ask HN: "Creative" ways to handle abusive http traffic?
Log them in. Give them the data they want but make it false. They think it's working and mark those passwords as good but they don't know otherwise. Now they have no idea if they're really good or bad and they have to verify with multiple other attempts somewhere else.
chasers··on Show HN: Checkbot for Chrome – web crawler that tests for web best practices
No, I mean like render the whole page with JS and all, but from your FAQ it seems like you're not. Which is why it's fast, ha.
chasers··on Show HN: Checkbot for Chrome – web crawler that tests for web best practices
It's nice and fast! Are you actually using chrome to render each page or making requests some other way?
chasers··on Ask HN: People above 35, would you risk your job and start a company?
Do it!!
chasers··on Ask HN: What SaaS customer service tools does your startup use?
For customer communication... at AuthorityLabs we're using:

1) Intercom for chat and notifications

2) PagePilot (pagepilot.io) for the knowledgebase

3) G Suite for support@

4) Campaign Monitor for mass emails

Note: PagePilot is a new project of ours. Looking for beta testers :)

chasers··on AWS Users: How do you track your costs?
Cloudabilty it awesome.

AWS' Billing dashboard is also great for a quick view. The report I use most is one I created that is the "Daily Cost per API Operation". Do the "Daily costs" report then group by API operation. I then view it by day (instead of month) for the last 3 cal months as a stacked bar graph.

I also have a CloudWatch alarm set to trigger at a certain spend. That alarm should trigger around the same day of each month. That way if it triggers 7 (or whatever) days before expected, I know we may have a problem.

chasers··on NIC.LY statement regarding the decision to block vb.ly
Some really good points about this whole fiasco here --> http://saint-rebel.com/2010/10/06/feigned-outrage-ly-domains...
chasers··on Ask HN: I want to start a web company what books should I read?
+1 for just doing it. You won't get any of the stuff in these articles without context.
chasers··on Ask HN: do you use a SERP ranking service ? Which one ?
Thanks for the great recommendation Romy. Things are gonna keep getting better.
