Source? Curious to read
charliemil4··on Three people play a Tetris-like game using a brain-to-brain interface
Reading these papers feels like watching someone high dive into a kiddie pool[0].

Incredible amounts of preparation and equipments are needed, for a simple transfer of body to pool.

Though it’s thrilling and makes a cool headline, why not just give everyone a normal diving board and normal pool? That’s hella fun, too, but surprisingly overlooked in research (and honestly looked down upon).

charliemil4··on Supreme Court rules antitrust lawsuit against Apple can proceed
Edit: friends, apologies for upsetting... first, I find the accusations horrendous. I am more just amused that K chose to write the opinion. Politics is a funny game.

It’s hard to swallow, but we need a third constitutional convention because this stuff is wrecked in the us.

charliemil4··on Impact of a Night of Sleep Deprivation on Novice Developers’ Performance (2018)
Why don't you think your colleagues value sleep? Is it that there's no data, save qualitative, backing up your claims?
charliemil4··on Impact of a Night of Sleep Deprivation on Novice Developers’ Performance (2018)
Do you think there are any shortcuts to the months of experimenting? I'd also be interested to learn how you validated your hypothesis (one night of sleep, a few nights of emails at midnight?)
charliemil4··on Impact of a Night of Sleep Deprivation on Novice Developers’ Performance (2018)
(Shameless plug) we are developing a “study as a service” project to drive home the individuality and impact of sleep.

The plan is to take a week with someone - comparing various “in bed” times along with quality of sleep to a simple, dynamic cognitive task.

If anyone finds that interesting, please reach out to the email in my profile.

Would an aerogel-like material suffice as an 'enormous heat sink'? Has anyone tried this?

Edit: would a metal aerogel not count? (Definitely not maker ready though, I assume)

charliemil4··on Psychiatry’s Incurable Hubris
Absolutely agree w.r.t. Neuroscience: it’s really exciting to work on. Reach out via email in profile to hear a few compelling anecdotes on an “advanced volt meter.”

(open to anyone reading, too)

Anyone that argues AGI is possible intrinsically believes the universe is finite and discretized.

I have found Quantum ideas and observations too unnerving to accept a finite and discretized universe.

Edit: this in in response to GO, or Starcraft or anything that is boxed off -- these AIs will eventually outperform humans on a grand scale, but the existence of 'constants' or being in a sandbox immediately precludes the results from speaking to AI's generalizability.

charliemil4··on Autistic Burnout: The Cost of Masking and Passing (2017)
It’s pretty wild that a parent and teacher survey[0], with least likely to most likely responses, is considered “truth” to diagnose adhd (the only diagnosis I’ve fully studied, but I believe depression and Austim are similar).

Thank god your son has a parent like you though — some medicate the personality out of their child, holding on to the shoddy diagnosis.

I hope as a society we can change all this — currently working on experimental assessments using direct brain data (eeg) to provide a bit of “truth” to the process.

charliemil4··on Bill Maher Tells Amazon's Jeff Bezos to “Take One for the Team”
A threatening misconception is that you can’t teach people — the truth is: you can’t teach the ones who have have self selected out.

In these areas, young people have already decided - to either decided to move away, or become one who stays.

There are ways to change this — amazon taking a large risk is one, and encouraging the next generation to be powerful is another.

I won’t bet on Amazon, and I hope we could fix our education to value “how” people think over “what” they think.

charliemil4··on Skin printer wipes years from your face [video]
Intriguing anecdote: my sister had a similar square off with acne for many years. She thought it would be life long (roccutane did nothing for her). Then recently, she did a barrage of allergy testing. It turns out she was highly allergic to pretty much everything she ate (onions, lettuce, other shocking things like this). She’s removed the culprits and seen an incredible transformation — still scarred a bit, but so much more confident.

I hope this helps someone else.

charliemil4··on Marc Andreessen: VR will be 1,000 times bigger than AR
Absolutely agree — our first biometric platform aimed to solve the “presence with half my face blocked” problem through crafty emg/firmware.
