cflee··on Startups, Fix Your "From" Field
'Usually' but definitely not always. Account ID is also usually at the application level, while Message-ID originates lower, at the mailserver level. When the app posts something off to the mailserver, how is it supposed to get the Message-ID back?

At least with the cruft, bounces are just handed back to the app to deal with.

One annoying thing is that some programs want you to separate different email addresses with semicolons and some with commas. It's another hassle to translate between those two conventions.

You might have heard of Fusion Garage - now associated with CrunchPad/TechCrunch.
cflee··on Reusable static sheets that turn walls (or any surface) into a whiteboard.
I wonder how effective the static remains over time. Does anyone have any experience with this? Otherwise it does look like a pretty good product.
cflee··on What if YouTube made the black empty space white? [PIC]
Is the poster trying to make a point other than that it's more aesthetically pleasing to have it white?
cflee··on Brainstorm HN: Outlandish Startup Ideas Pool
This just reminds me of the Half Bakery, it's also got a whole ton of crazy, outlandish, unrealistic ideas that won't work. Otherwise known as brainstorming, yes?

cflee··on Ask YC: My school wants to shut down my app. How should I respond?
In which case wouldn't the traffic overload issue be resolved? 1 request/min seems a far cry from ~130 requests/min, and quite a reasonable compromise.
