cdme··on Perplexity AI is lying about their user agent
If the cause of training LLMs is so noble then surely an opt in model would work, no?
cdme··on Perplexity AI is lying about their user agent
With no benefit provided to the creator — they're not directing users out, they're pulling data in.
cdme··on Perplexity AI is lying about their user agent
Website owners should be able to block this behavior as well — OpenAI has two different agents and doesn't obscure the agent when a user initiates a fetch.
cdme··on Perplexity AI is lying about their user agent
How a user views a page isn't the same as a startup scraping the internet wholesale for financial gain.
cdme··on Clearview AI Used Your Face. Now You May Get a Stake in the Company
Dissolve it and delete the data. Pass legislation to make similar ventures impossible going forward.
cdme··on OpenAI and Apple Announce Partnership
I hate everything about this. Curious how blocking OpenAI's TLDs at the DNS level will go.
cdme··on ChatGPT Is at Capacity Right Now
Good. AI generated music is all absolutely awful.
cdme··on Scientists should use AI as a tool, not an oracle
It's marketed and sold as an oracle. The AGI crowd feels like a cult.
cdme··on Unskippable ads might come to an Instagram app near you
All commercial social apps will invariably devolve into utter garbage.
cdme··on Most People Couldn't Give a Crap About Using AI, Survey Finds
Fits well with the focus on investors over users I suppose.
cdme··on Google releases smart watch for kids
We’ve used AirTags on trips with our kids and they work well. Our dogs have them on their collars too.

I don’t trust Google with our kids’ data (or our dogs, I guess) and they’ll probably discontinue this in a year.

cdme··on If A.I. Can Do Your Job, Maybe It Can Also Replace Your CEO
"petty selfish ignorant people" is a pretty good description of the folks pushing AI at the moment.
cdme··on Possible association between tattoos and lymphoma
Thanks mom
cdme··on Possible association between tattoos and lymphoma
I’m working on filling out my arm and then on to some other ideas next. Suppose we’ll see.
cdme··on Google scrambles to manually remove weird AI answers in search
It’s pre-alpha trash that’s worse than traditional search in every meaningful way.

Kudos to the artist at the Verge for the accompanying image — those are fingers AI would be proud of.

cdme··on Google's AI-generated search results keep citing The Onion
Ads
cdme··on Google CEO Sundar Pichai takes a look at a sample Google search [video]
None of this is an improvement for users over the previous experience.
cdme··on Google Search Is Now a Giant Hallucination
It went from search to making up utterly unusable dreck. It's not helpful, it's machine-generated nonsense that's more expensive to operate than search.
cdme··on Tom Waits vs. Frito-Lay, Inc (2003)
I'm glad he got paid. It was done in bad faith (much like the ScarJo case). He does allow for covers — Rod Stewart's Downtown Train cover paid for his swimming pool.
cdme··on Tom Waits vs. Frito-Lay, Inc (2003)
A truly convenient piece for a company so transparent and demonstrably trustworthy.
cdme··on OpenAI didn’t copy Scarlett Johansson’s voice for ChatGPT, records show
Convenient story for a company that's proven difficult to trust at every possible turn.
cdme··on Wikimedia Enterprise – APIs for LLMs, AI Training, and More
Or this simply discourages contributions for folks not wanting to volunteer effort to the gaping maw of yet another monolithic content vacuum/LLM.
cdme··on Humane Explores Potential Sale
That’s a lot of money for garbage.
cdme··on Wikimedia Enterprise – APIs for LLMs, AI Training, and More
No, but nobody is obligated to contribute to or support them either.
cdme··on Sam Altman is showing us who he really is
He appears to be a big fan of the opt out model of consent (when it suits him).
cdme··on Statement from Scarlett Johansson on the OpenAI "Sky" voice
Steal everything they possibly can and hope they end up too big to kill. I sincerely hope they fail spectacularly.
cdme··on "I lost trust": Why the OpenAI team in charge of safeguarding humanity imploded
Just the people we want in charge of, well, anything.
cdme··on I don't want to spend my one precious life dealing with Google's AI search
A solution in search of a problem that makes the existing solution worse. Kudos, Google.
cdme··on Leaked deck reveals how OpenAI is pitching publisher partnerships
Everything gets reduced to ads. None of this provides any values to end users.
cdme··on VC Says Half of Google Staff Do 'No Real Work'
I imagine this guy doesn’t do much real work himself.
