There's some irony in here somewhere...
That being said, this should lead to legal action by NYC.
My thoughts exactly. But they must have made a good case that there were other uses to their investors, they netted some pretty high-profile names.
I would imagine Dash is getting traction on darknets, but I haven't seen anything on that one lately

This is the exact reason I support Archive.org...well that and occasionally it helps with work stuff.
"But what the market deems valuable is not necessarily aligned with what is ultimately good for us as a society, or even what we want."
Negative externalities that harm the public good aren't factored into markets until a price is put on the value of public goods. When no enforcement mechanism is present, or at least decent incentives properly aligned, then the public good keeps getting screwed and we end up with climate change.
Personally, I lost most of sophomore year delving into the insecurity of e-voting in the US after 2004. Eventually I burnt out and left the rabbit hole, but there are still those fighting for open-source voter verified paper trail systems, that can be audited for irregularities if need arose. I applaud their efforts, and am glad to still have a more resilient family member involved in pushing Cali to implement such things.
As much as the current system in the US is easily (and probably) hackable, what scares me further are the alliances pushing us towards online voting, some under the pretense of the magic of the blockchain to solve everything. Once we shift to that, whatever shreds remain of our democracy are probably toast.
But we're not there yet, SF is leading the way working with some efforts at digital systems such as this http://www.sfexaminer.com/san-francisco-could-lead-on-open-s... ... although the lack of paper trails show that they don't really get the the full range of risks.
A relationship, a mortgage and even kids happen if you take the job route. As someone who took the job route and now have a mortgage, I vote Japan, though you prolly wanna talk with some folks who have done it first just for confirmation...or have a backup plan if for some reason it actually did suck.
On the flip side my girlfriend would be stoked if I said I wanted to move to Japan, so you never know who you might end up with if you stick around and pay down some debt.
Routines and inertia are hard to fight tho once you get on a path.

As an aside: Guess it's time to put a credit freeze / lock on my record so the scammers can't hijack things. Lame that the agencies can charge us for this self - protective measure.
This is a gem: " Note: Coinsis is in Beta stage and CANNOT recover PASSWORDS at this time. Please make sure to write your password down, since currently we cannot help recover your password."
