casper345··on Is Rails still relevant in 2018?
"A chainsaw is an amazing tool, but you would not use it for all your home projects"

Alot of divides and conflicting ideas in coding languages, framework, and even development processes agile vs test driven. But to build a castle in the sky, you cannot rely on one tool in order to build the whole thing. Use whats best for that case and use another tool for another case.

casper345··on Ask HN: As the first developer, how to prepare for new ones
> Also most code starts off a bit hacky. That's the way it should be. It gets refactored once it's confirmed that the feature is needed.

I def think this is good, sometimes I just worry after hearing horror stories of dev teams literally doing a year of refactoring code for bad implementation in the beginning or problems with scalability in the future which leads to delays. But I guess that is just the natural progression of a product and needs to be faced then and not now. Also that means when we do face that issue, we passed the first obstacle - our product/feature is wanted by the user

casper345··on How to become a dramatically better programmer
Find a mentor, someone who refined their craft for years and only through experience they know the shortcuts and right implementations. My coding mentors really kicked me in the butt from being a cowboy self-taught coder to one who needs to read more about the theories of coding and philosophies behind them to up my game.
