carimura··on Show HN: Let your agents create custom pods
neat! ah who knows I'm just building to build. Happy to connect to share notes though -- hit me up hello at chad.cm
carimura··on Show HN: Summarize any page into a pod episode
The extension is still in review in the Chrome store but you can easily install it using the docs.
carimura··on Show HN: Let your agents create custom pods
No plans for other languages at the moment. Right now my business model is to lose a bunch of money. The $5 plan might get close to breaking even. If it gets too expensive and I don't want to make a business I'll open source it all with instructions to install for those interested.
carimura··on Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT‑5.6
Exactly. I haven't reached the "let 1000 agents bloom" mode yet, so currently I'm spending real headspace managing agents doing work, and that work is all important, so why "settle" for sub-frontier models for that work? Maybe I'll get there for non-coding work.
carimura··on Show HN: Let your agents create custom pods
thinking about also open sourcing... let me know if there's interest there.
carimura··on Decker, a platform that builds on the legacy of Hypercard and classic macOS
If I could point to two major influences that directed me towards computer engineering it was Hypercard and BBS's.
carimura··on A 77-year-old Republican man is staging a solo protest against Flock cameras
i've said this before on Hn but I called the sheriff to discuss these in our neighborhood and asked if they could search for our whereabouts and he said "only if there's an active crime for your plate", so I said "what if the governor imposes a 'bird flu curfew'?" and after some kerfuffling said in theory yes they could then use it to track offendors.
carimura··on A 77-year-old Republican man is staging a solo protest against Flock cameras
nice. i just asked chatgpt for the lean and it said progressive so there ya go.
carimura··on A 77-year-old Republican man is staging a solo protest against Flock cameras
ya. classic tactic to label someone so there's pattern matching for readers. happens everywhere unfortunately.
carimura··on Em dashes are fucking amazing
funny. I was just texting someone this morning and using emdashes — and thought to myself... oh no.

carimura··on Laguna S 2.1
Congrats Poolside team!!
carimura··on The human-in-the-loop is tired
Ya my memories are similar: ~12 years old building BBS's late into the night, then after college first startup, programming from midnight to 5am "in the flow" - nobody around or online. Just me and the problem at hand.
carimura··on The human-in-the-loop is tired
I've found that I can go back and forth between two workstreams (at most) but beyond that my brain gets fried from the context switching.
carimura··on Building and Shipping Mac and iOS Apps Without Ever Opening Xcode
"Claude was the only LLM to survive the LLM Wars."
carimura··on OpenAI Forked Git on GitHub
get your popcorn out. the git wars are on.
carimura··on Show HN: Ant – A JavaScript runtime and ecosystem
i was just joking about Anthropic's `ant` CLI not caring about Apache `ant` (maybe one person got it), and now we're talking about Javascript `ant`!
carimura··on Write code like a human will maintain it
that's 100% happening to me right now not just with a specific codebase but with the fun/engineering parts of coding in general.... it makes me sad, slightly concerned, but optimistic that I can build a trillion dollar company with no employees. I'm kidding. Who knows. I'm enjoying building so I guess there's that.
carimura··on Write code like a human will maintain it
I haven't used them but I'm sure they're good and I'm sure they're even using LLMs themselves now as a non-deterministic pass. For my use cases I'm just trying to keep vendors/costs to a minimum.
carimura··on Write code like a human will maintain it
I don't have a scientific answer to this but I'm just assuming a different model, and more specifically, the frontier latest models like Fable/5.6 would catch things the author model might skip over.
carimura··on Write code like a human will maintain it
I find myself doing this but then I worry that the slop will just compound and 3, 6, 12 months from now as my services scale I'll have a harder time operating them. Maybe I'm wrong.
carimura··on Write code like a human will maintain it
I continually run codebases through different models to have them look for bad code smells like repeated code. That's been pretty effective. You do have to maintain over time or else you end up with a sloppy mess which I can only imagine compounds.
carimura··on Just Pay the Subscription
Agreed.

"I don't need a receipt for the donut, I'll just give you some money, you give me the donut. End of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this."

carimura··on PostHog Open Sourced
The PostHog Enterprise license (the “Enterprise License”)
carimura··on Muse Spark 1.1
I missed the fact that Meta was developing and releasing closed-weights models... bummer. Would be great to see some more progress with American open-weights models.
carimura··on Goodebye Forever Probably: Why I’m leaving developer relations
there seems to be a lot of burnout from folks who have been in tech for a decent stretch, not just devrel. AI is an accelerant but not the only reason. probably the "power swap" as well as money has stopped pouring into hiring and jobs are more scare now and for the first time in, ever (?), employers have more leverage.
carimura··on The Egg Bandits Made a Thousand Times the Fine They Just Paid for Price Fixing
ya that is likely correct in most cases, but I bet one could sell their surplus at a discount from store and break even.

So that means "invest" the time and resources to take just a small piece of the food supply chain into your own hands.

carimura··on The Egg Bandits Made a Thousand Times the Fine They Just Paid for Price Fixing
Please invest in some happy backyard chickens if you are able. We did, and it's amazing.
carimura··on Cloudflare launched self-managed OAuth for all
I suspect CF is their future CLI.
