caeruleus··on Ask HN: The middle ground for email self-hosting?
I have been selfhosting my email stack on a cheap VPS (~ $10) for many years now, probably since 2009 or so. I used to set up everything manually, but that was quite painful and there were some rough edges.

Nowadays, I just use mailcow (https://github.com/mailcow/mailcow-dockerized) for the setup part and have a much more polished experience. Email deliverability is not a problem. Generally, you just have to make sure to correctly setup DKIM/SPF (and DMARC) and check if your IP is on some blacklist. You can get it removed easily. (Edit: Also required is forward-confirmed reverse DNS, see below).

There was one provider that denied incoming mails from me, even though I got the IP removed from every blacklist I could find. I wrote a short mail to the admin contact and got told I had to host a web page with contact information on the same IP. Since being whitelisted there, everything works like a charm, couldn't be happier.

Although I have not used paperless-ng (extensively) so far, I have been using almost the same method for many years and could not be happier. When I receive a document, I do the same every time:

  1) Stamp it with the pagination stamp.
  2) Scan it.
  3) Dump the scan into a single large digital folder.
  4) Dump the original into a physical folder (titled as you do).
It relieves the mental burden of categorising since you do the same every time – stamp, scan, dump. And repeat. In the very rare case you need to find the original it's also superior, thanks to OCR and the sequential numbering being represented on the scan.
caeruleus··on Geizhals – Tech Product Price Comparison and Tracking
Haha, actually the reason I noticed was because I was shopping for RAM at the beginning of this year. The product above was just my first random thought, it seems to be very regular there.

FWIW, it's enough to just set the parameter &pva=geizhals2 in the GET request for the product page once. Could be fun to see how regular it is.

caeruleus··on Geizhals – Tech Product Price Comparison and Tracking
One shop that I noticed was doing this is csv-direct.de. First visit a product page, e. g.:

https://www.csv-direct.de/artinfo.php?artnr=AGX1428619&KATEG... (758,93€)

then look at the geizhals price:

https://geizhals.de/ubiquiti-unifiswitch-enterprise-24-rackm... (748,09€)

After you have visited the page from geizhals, the lower price will stay even on direct links, for that product only (until you clear local data/cookies).
