Upflow | Paris or Remote (CET -2 / +2) | Full-time | https://upflow.io

Getting paid on time represents a significant problem for B2B companies. Unlike consumer payments, where we've seen massive amounts of innovation in the form of companies like Venmo & Revolut, B2B payments remain archaic. We're on a mission to fix this, and bring delightful B2C experiences to B2B finance teams in the process.

We run on React / GraphQL / Node / Express / Postgres We're still really small (3 developers) and are looking for great hackers to work across the stack on problems ranging from payments, security, product and data.

We're building the reference payment platform for B2B businesses in Europe.

Getting paid on time remains a significant problem for B2B businesses. We're on a mission to revolutionise how companies manage their outstanding payments. To do this, we're building a fully fledged payment platform from scratch - think Stripe but for traditional (non-tech) businesses.

It's an extremely complex and multi-faceted problem which affects almost 500,000 businesses across Europe.

bwm··on Kubernetes Is a Surprisingly Affordable Platform for Personal Projects
Why not just outsource hosting to Heroku or something similar? Unless you're building something with extremely exotic requirements, it seems like you're just wasting time trying to build out your own infra.

Upflow | Senior/Lead Engineer - Full stack Web | Paris, France | ONSITE or REMOTE

Getting paid effectively remains a significant problem for non-tech B2B businesses in Europe. At Upflow, we're on a mission to help our customers save time and money getting paid and gain deep insights into their customer exposure. We're creating a fully fledged payment platform from scratch and we aim to become the industry standard for B2B payments. Think Stripe but for traditional (non-tech) businesses. It's an incredibly complex and multi-faceted problem, which remains largely unsolved today.

------------------------------

I'm a full stack engineer with a founders mindset (I've interviewed at YC a few times). I have over 10 years of experience across the entire stack: frontend, backend, iOS, Android, UX and product.

I hold a masters degree from a top 10 university (Imperial College), have done stints in academia (PhD dropout), big companies (Apple & Morgan Stanley) and more startups than I can count.

The people that I work with tend to value my ability to go from a very loose set of requirements to a very high quality product in an extremely short amount of time.

bwm··on The Chrome Javascript editor can do hot swapping
We've done that with SCSS/Sass (http://usetakana.com). It's a Sublime plugin that compiles & hot-swaps in your stylesheet changes as you type.
bwm··on 800 camera CCTV hub unveiled in west London
It'd be cool if they streamed the images over the net. Maybe like a realtime google street view.
bwm··on The world wide web in black and white
It's incredibly simple: document.documentElement.style.webkitFilter='grayscale(1)'
bwm··on Supporting IE Is Too Much Work
I think it depends on how far along you are in your product development lifecycle. If you're at the MVP stage or you're making big changes to your product regularly, then don't support IE, it'll slow iteration time in a similar (although not to the same extent) way that launching with an iPhone and Android app would. If you've got product market fit, paying users and have the bandwidth to support it then you probably should.
bwm··on Pebble's E-Paper Watch Exceeds $10 Million Raised On Kickstarter
In my mind this shows that crowdsourced funding + low cost prototyping (eg arduino) and manufacturing (eg 3d printing) could really disrupt consumer electronics. It'd be really cool to see the next must have smartphone/tablet built by a few guys in their basement and sold to millions of consumers.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
Thanks! No plans yet, but there is an API which you can use to post bookmarks to.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
Thanks for the feedback, it's very helpful. We're aware that there are still a couple of quirks with the extension. We'll try to get some management in the web app soon. In the meantime if you're still having problems, feel free to mail us at support@mech.io.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
Yup this is definitely a possibility.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
I understand your concern, and to be honest we thought about this a lot when making the product. The reason we upload your bookmarks to our server is so that we can download the html, index it and display excerpts in the timeline. For further information, you can read our privacy policy here: http://stashmarks.com/privacy
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
URLs uniquely identify bookmarks, if two chromes have a bookmark with the same URL but different titles/tags, stashmarks will show whichever was synced first.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
as long as you have the extension installed, everything you bookmark will be available in the service, regardless of which instance of chrome it came from.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
cheers, it was our search feature that was killing performance, we've had to put it a dumber search for now.
bwm··on Show HN: We made an awesome way to browse and search your Chrome bookmarks.
sorry, it's Chrome only atm. But if enough people ask for it, we'll build a Safari extension.
