buzzerbetrayed··on US vs. Google amicus curiae brief of Y Combinator in support of plaintiffs [pdf]
I don’t understand.

The GP of your comment is literally saying that Kagi is better than Google as of late. You’re not helping the “Kagi doesn’t use bots” case by ignore the context 2 comments up.

buzzerbetrayed··on Rust’s dependencies are starting to worry me
Case in point.

Imagine if a carpenter or house builder was shitting out slop that had no taste. And then laughed at people who pointed it out. Would you hire them to build something for you?

This is a problem with SE culture.

buzzerbetrayed··on Rust’s dependencies are starting to worry me
Finding a single library that avoids the problem is pretty useless. You can find great libraries in Node as well but everyone would agree that Node has a dependency problem.
buzzerbetrayed··on We fell out of love with Next.js and back in love with Ruby on Rails
So un-graphql-ing your graphql. This shit is wild.
buzzerbetrayed··on Try Switching to Kagi
It’s also less than a single sandwich. Not sure how “it depends on the sandwich” adds to the conversation. The point still remains.
buzzerbetrayed··on O3 beats a master-level GeoGuessr player, even with fake EXIF data
It still works if you upload an image that was taken on the opposite side of the globe from where you are.
buzzerbetrayed··on The side hustle from hell
That was such a great read. And way too relatable at parts. Loved it. Makes me want to write down my startup stories one day, even if it's just for friends and family.
buzzerbetrayed··on Time to quit your pointless job, become morally ambitious and change the world
> Minus the disease and war, of course.
buzzerbetrayed··on Time to quit your pointless job, become morally ambitious and change the world
Which is precisely whey GP should be spending time with their kids, providing for them, and raising them to be good humans.
buzzerbetrayed··on OpenAI Codex CLI: Lightweight coding agent that runs in your terminal
> built by OpenAI many moons ago

What’s with this writing style in a prompt? Is there a reason they write like that? Or does it just not matter so why not?

buzzerbetrayed··on Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from ‘reciprocal’ tariffs
K. We aren’t in disagreement there. Not sure if you’re giving pushback on something I said.
buzzerbetrayed··on Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from ‘reciprocal’ tariffs
It’s not irrelevant at all when the headline implies that companies were singled out by name. Details matter.
buzzerbetrayed··on Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from ‘reciprocal’ tariffs
Companies aren’t getting exemptions. The product categories are. The headline is misleading. And while you might already be aware of that, most the people responding to you clearly aren’t.
buzzerbetrayed··on Honey has now lost 4M Chrome users after shady tactics were revealed
Why do retailers offer those discounts then? Why not deactivate them instead of allowing honey to give them to their users? Am I misunderstanding what honey does?
buzzerbetrayed··on Luigi Mangione-inspired ballot initiative targets health insurance denials
The healthcare industry gets an enormous amount of pushback in the US.
buzzerbetrayed··on Luigi Mangione-inspired ballot initiative targets health insurance denials
And just like that, the justification.
buzzerbetrayed··on Utah becomes first US state to ban fluoride in its water
The quote you provide is grossly misleading, as that isn’t what tithing meant in the early days of the church. The church just says “which is understood to mean income” so causally that it’s essentially a lie. They say that to get more money. They hold peoples salvation at gun point to make sure it gets paid. And then they use their wealth and influence to drive state policy. It’s all very gross.
buzzerbetrayed··on US added to international watchlist for rapid decline in civic freedoms
Nothing wrong with quoting it in a supportive fashion. It is an entirely reasonable take. Especially if you listen to the entire point he made, and not cherry pick the part that makes it sound bad (intentionally, of course)

If you are letting “empathy” drive your civilization to ruin, it is no longer empathy. That is the point.

buzzerbetrayed··on The DOJ still wants Google to sell off Chrome
Yes. My biggest gripe with Google is that they prop up unprofitable products with their wildly popular product. It makes competition impossible. YouTube is the perfect example.

I feel like it should be illegal to use your profits in one industry to run a loss leader in a totally separate industry.

buzzerbetrayed··on Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting
The US isn’t alone though. Again, dispassionate analysis.
buzzerbetrayed··on Apple pulls data protection tool after UK government security row
If signal doesn’t make a stand, the entire value prop of signal collapses and they cease to be a thing.

For Apple, privacy is one value prop. But seemingly smaller one than the UK market.

buzzerbetrayed··on US and UK refuse to sign AI safety declaration at summit
Exceptions to rules exist, especially if you’re trying to think of a really extreme cases that specifically invalidate it.

However, that really doesn’t invalidate the rule.

buzzerbetrayed··on BYD to offer Tesla-like self-driving tech in all models for free
Government subsidies. It isn't a fair playing field. You're essentially celebrating that the Chinese government is choosing for their car company to crush rather than the rest of the world's car companies. This isn't an example of being "ripped apart by competition". It's being ripped apart by a government.
buzzerbetrayed··on BYD to offer Tesla-like self-driving tech in all models for free
You have it nearly completely backwards. China is screwing over the world by subsidizing their car exports. No car company can compete unless their government also subsidizes.
buzzerbetrayed··on OpenAI says it has evidence DeepSeek used its model to train competitor
How is it a “lie” for DeepSeek to train their data from ChatGPT but not if they train their data from all of Twitter and Reddit? Either way the training is 100x cheaper.
buzzerbetrayed··on Show HN: DeepSeek My User Agent
Well I’m glad Apple prioritizes us over you the. I don’t care that you want it a different way. Apple forcing the end of bad practices in this instance is a win.
buzzerbetrayed··on Show HN: Lightpanda, an open-source headless browser in Zig
Nerfing developer tools to save the "open web" is such a fucking backward argument.
buzzerbetrayed··on Trying out Zed after more than a decade of Vim/Neovim
I think you’re just highlighting the different preferences people have between a text editor and an IDE. Obviously the line between the two is very blurry. I much prefer being able to efficiently edit text myself rather than relying on refactoring tools.
buzzerbetrayed··on Trying out Zed after more than a decade of Vim/Neovim
If they’re talking about the Cursor I’m familiar with, it is “The AI Editor”. Basically it’s a fork of vscode with LLMs built in

buzzerbetrayed··on Tailwind CSS v4.0
Why do you keep saying CSS has “caught up”? Tailwind has always just mapped to CSS, so you’ve always been able to do anything in CSS that you could do in tailwind. What has CSS done that makes you see no value in Tailwind today where you used to see value?
