butterknife··on YouTube audio quality – How good does it get? (2022)
Apple Digital Masters indeed recommends no clipping. But the program is based on Apple interviewing the process that to-be-certified mastering engineers use. There is a way where you can pass the interview, get certified and then decide that clipping sounds better/louder/whatever and the file will still get the ADM stamp.

> But they already have that if you always use the same debit or credit cards like most people do.

Don't they have only the last 4 digits and the issuer of the card? It is likely enough but there will be some noise.

Not to mention any potential legal trouble if they used the card details without explicit consent. App contracts will get around that.

Noted, thank you.

Unfortunately I am in position where I have to master mixes done in Logic and this backwards crap can easily add up to half an hour onto every track. Sick of it. Dying on that hill!
butterknife··on Apple acquires Pixelmator
You might be diligent to check your cuts in Sample Editor.

However when you zoom in in the Arrange the way the waveform is rendered it seems like you are cutting on a zero crossing when in fact you are not.

It lies to you and leads you to believe you've done the right thing.

I have had the pleasure of working on tracks with dozens of clicks that I had to remove thanks to the laziness of Logic developers, pardon me for dying on the hill and spoiling your view.

butterknife··on Apple acquires Pixelmator
As a mastering engineer, I am removing them from Logic mixes almost every day. Sometimes I need to pinch myself to reascertain that it's really 2024.
butterknife··on Apple acquires Pixelmator
I am talking about automatically adding fades and/or automatically snapping to nearest zero crossing when cutting audio to prevent clicks.

Every other modern DAW does this automatically. In Logic, you are expected to do this manually every time you do an audio edit. Like it's 2004 again.

Edit: added clarification about zero crossings and editing workflow

butterknife··on Apple acquires Pixelmator
All the AI hubris but Logic still does not do fades or zero crossings when cutting audio clips. And don't get me started on the audio zoom. This is basic stuff!

It feels like the audio code was not touched since emagic days.

Fused for 13A running off 32A ring main.

Continental Europe uses 16A radial circuits so the current rating is higher there.

EDIT: Of course, you can't run two kettles on one radial, but you can on one ring.

butterknife··on A Surprising Advantage of Vinyl (2011)
I would like to think that it is quite common. Certainly for guys who provide lacquer/DMM cutting services.

There is an issue with vinyl brokers and certain unnamed plants that advertise "mastering" that consists of running any delivered audio through proprietary software that "fixes" all physically problematic issues that could affect cutting or playback (excessive sibilance, excessive negative stereo correlation etc.). There is minimal listening involved and they can cut almost any audio. All optimised for maximising the factory throughput, not sound quality.

Personally I have a hope that this will become less of an issue in future as vinyl is getting more popular and people little bit more educated.

butterknife··on A Surprising Advantage of Vinyl (2011)
Mastering engineer here. I supply less compressed versions for vinyl and would not sign under it if it was the same as CD/streaming. What labels do after the fact is another story...

Ukraine only housed Soviet nuclear missiles. They (Ukraine) would never ever had access to launch codes. That it is stated in Budapest memorandum along with the rest of the Soviet army leaving does not in any way make Ukraine a former nuclear power.

We had Soviet nukes stationed in Czechia too. Does that make us a former nuclear power? I thought not...

As it is the costs of the nuclear waste management are, and will be for a long time, fielded by tax payer and not internalised with the plant builders/operators.

Hey! No need for name calling. :) I jest, I jest.

There is a very long history of "left" bombings, going all the way to French Revolution. Did the modern left somehow lose the ability to inspire people capable of such actions?
