bot403··on Anthropic appears to be A/B testing reduced effort levels in Claude Code
I run local models. Your op is absolutely wrong. To get a local LLM is at least a $1500 investment at the cheapest. $5000 if you want usable.

At $1500 that's 75 months of $20/mo Claude which are MUCH better models than you can run locally.

bot403··on Anthropic appears to be A/B testing reduced effort levels in Claude Code
The decision to leave is genuinely yours.
bot403··on Munder Difflin – Agent harness to run an office of your clones
It's interesting but It was hard to tell from a quick read if this was a fun game with LLMs or a productivity tool. You could stand to make that more clear.
bot403··on Felony charges for citizen deleting phone data at US Border
Sure buddy. And the uncertainty principle means you can't prove I was at the scene of the crime.

The fact phones don't usually wipe themselves will be plenty good for a judge.

Btw: Regardless of the above I support this guy's right to protect his private data from baseless and unreasonable searches. He should not be charged with a crime.

bot403··on Felony charges for citizen deleting phone data at US Border
And what if he was erasing a steamy affair with a border patrol agent? That's not illegal, but releasing knowledge of it could be damaging to all parties for no reason.
bot403··on Opus 5.0 drives incoherence into the stratosphere
The decision of which words to remove is genuinely yours.
bot403··on Is the industry ready for tokens-constrained work?
Assumedly between the dev and their boss they can make the case they are getting value from it and how much.

That's part of the basic job description of both of them. Explain how your work relates to your company's goals both at a large scale and at a localized team level.

bot403··on Research papers using "kidney disappointment" instead of "kidney failure"
Well I call it tax avoision.
bot403··on When Bridges Go Haywire
Someone found open ports. Theorized they're bridges. And spun a 5 page ai article making baseless and unsupported claims on what's happening and how it came to be.
bot403··on Stop sending me huge PRs; a rant
The decision of how to split this PR is genuinely yours.
bot403··on Every Fucking Website (2020)
I would hate that more than an actual cookie banner. You didn't have to popup but you chose to anyway just so I could give you a pat on the back?
bot403··on Qwen 3.8-27B goes openweight in 2 days
As the part owner of a company using local LLMs we're getting real value out of 27b sized models. I'm saving $1000/mo vs throwing a frontier model at a rather straightforward (for AI) automation need.

The trick is acknowledging they're B or C tier intelligence and speed and using them accordingly.

bot403··on The main way I've seen people turn ideologically crazy (2025)
It's inconceivable to me that you could forget the three branches. There are still headlines and news articles about the president , congress, and the supreme court. Those three things , talked about constantly, are a basic reminder of the most visible aspects of each branch.
bot403··on NASA figured out how to keep its Voyager 2 probe running for another year
Should we launch now or not? That decision is genuinely yours.
bot403··on Firefighter arson a long-standing issue – expert
You're secretly a robot.
bot403··on Ask HN: Is there a website that tracks excessive writes to SSDs in OS/app betas?
It helps reduce size and weight since you can just directly place ssd chips on the motherboard instead of planning for connectors.

Just depends on what your priorities are.

bot403··on The US grocery slowdown is real
This is hyperbolicly dramatic. Nobody will put you in jail of you don't sign a contract. And if you don't pay rent it's a beach of contract and civil matter. It can be very hard to force people to pay rent if they're not paying. All you can do is kick them out, eventually ,there is no jail.

Your dramatic post makes it seem like the cops can kick down your door to get rent. That's simply not true.

bot403··on AWS: Inaccurate Estimated Billing Data – $1.7 billion
Why? What's the damages? They showed you a wrong number, then later acknowledged it and fixed it. Just because the number was "very big" to you doesn't mean you were actually aggrieved in some way.
bot403··on Agents.md – Dumb Human
Please don't fail, my job depends on it.
bot403··on What ORMs have taught me: just learn SQL (2014)
I read it as "I've optimized the orm to be minimal overhead over raw sql a lot of the time".
bot403··on What ORMs have taught me: just learn SQL (2014)
I can't tell if you're arguing against SQL or orms. But I take your argument in favor of SQL because that's the native language of all the DBS and the dozens of frameworks and systems on top of them are "just use x...."
bot403··on Claude Code is steganographically marking requests
Just like we take unreliable machines and make a reliable system by load balancing and fail over we can do with vendors.

Any sane company should not be too deeply tied to any one AI vendor at the moment and be ready and able to switch with a timeline and cost as acceptable to the org.

TLDR: Be prepared to use multiple AI vendors.

bot403··on Claude Code is steganographically marking requests
Software, no. But maybe eventually AI and tokens are a public utility.
bot403··on Claude Code is steganographically marking requests
I asked Claude to think of the children. It worked for three minutes, came up with a plan, and charged me $9.
bot403··on I used sound waves to make espresso
It's lose-lose. With this they won't even have a hot drink to throw in your face as you hop the counter.
bot403··on Big Banana Car
If im a drug smuggler I'm definitely driving the most boring, common car directly BEHIND the banana car.
bot403··on Reviews have become expensive, rewrites have become cheap
Or bizarrely Claude askes about code churn like it matters.

Human, Do you want me to do it the right way? It will cause code churn in 90 files. Or I can take a shortcut and edit 3 files in a terrible way.

Edits 90 files for 12 lines each in 25 seconds...

bot403··on EU Commission looking at practical consequences of Anthropic decision
I'm not really sure the US can be counted on to defend the EU via NATO anymore. They certainly gave up on Ukraine, which is grinding Russia down to the benefit of the EU and NATO.
bot403··on Firewood Splitting Simulator
There's a ton of non-interactive fireplace simulators on Netflix and YouTube. Especially around Christmas.
bot403··on Firewood Splitting Simulator
I think if you sit and play it for 10 hours your lower back will hurt too. It just takes longer.
