borvo··on Death by gentrification: the killing that shamed San Francisco
This is not a gentle pushback, you're seeking to blame the victim without quoting any sources. Your inference that the story is "corroborated by Nieto's history" is pure speculation and does not explain the contradictory statements given by the police officers. If you've left something out here then I apologise but this story disgusted me, as does your comment.
borvo··on What the IBM Layoffs Look Like
Yeah. This is the way it works, and I'll complain too - but we all know how it works.

I don't live in San Francisco and my tribe makes a good living out of software product development.
borvo··on The secret life of a games programmer
Unions just create another power structure that has to be appeased. I'd love to see the union rep telling the kind of engineers I work with why they're not allowed to fix something right now. Cue lynch mob!
borvo··on Lessons from a Failed Tech Startup
Or product management.
borvo··on How a Legal Journalist Got Fired for a Non-Compete
A court has to decide that. The employer likely has more resources than you and can tie you up wasting time and money in proceedings. That is the real issue behind this article. This company decided it was in their best interests to make an example of this person, and now she's unemployed.

Surely you provide your customers something more than just a building with some trainers in it? I'd focus on that, rather than silly contract games.
borvo··on When to join a startup
> This is also related to how engineering is often viewed (correctly or not) as a young man's game

Startup engineering is a young man's game in part because it's harder to fool more experienced engineers into drinking the koolade.

borvo··on My simplified response to Paul Graham's simplified essay
I think that's fair enough. I guess all we can say is best of what we've tried so far.
borvo··on Ireland to 'decriminalise' small amounts of drugs for personal use
There's nothing new here, Ireland has been changing at a very rapid pace for the last 20 years - becoming progressively more liberal due to many influences, not least the fact that all of a sudden most young people were staying in the country during the celtic tiger years.
borvo··on First Round 10 Year Project
Well, they shared their conclusions but I don't see any actual data?
