Correct me if I missed something.
Bonus points for keeping everything offline because if I use this I would be afraid you would be keeping track of my keystrokes as I type in all of my personal information into the form. < - Please don't ever do this, anyone who may read this comment.
I gave it a star!
Ah, I did not know, now I do.
I didn't mean to be harsh or off-putting. I'm sorry if I came off that way. I do honestly hope you continue to do what you love and pursue it; if I ever get into 2D development I'll remember your content. God bless!
As someone who's never heard of you before now, if I may offer some suggestions that may help you to expose your content to newcomers like me. Of course, take this with a grain of salt, I'm a random internet user but I felt I needed to take the time and write something nice and (hopefully) encouraging to brighten a stranger's day in this coronavirus pandemic. :)
- The name of your video could be improved to help searchability. You use "Tile Map Editor - Part 4 (designing a tile map)" and I see why you might choose that, it's a Tile Map Editor for 2D games. However, when I am on Youtube, I'm more inclined to search for "How to create 2D game tile map" or "Create a custom 2d game tile map".
- I happened to watch a few of your videos and noticed that you are working on this in your free time after your full-time job. Totally get that, I'm writing budgeting software in my free time, it's hard to find time. In my experience, when I find a video that's more tutorial-esque, I find it helpful for voiceovers and shorter segments that I can digest. When I don't feel I can pause the video without missing something, it's hard for me to keep my attention on the whole video.
- Do you have a landing page or website? I was hoping to find a link to that in your description on Youtube where we could read a little bit more if we didn't want to watch videos, or if you were using any software/tools you wanted to share on Github with others. I know quite a good portion of the HN audience enjoys seeing new code projects and I think yours is worth sharing with the community too! Likewise, sharing a github link in Youtube or vice-versa is good cross pollination.
- You seem to be moving your mouse a lot for the brush feature :), have you thought of click-dragging over a set of squares to create a brush that way? (They all seem to be contiguous anyway in the sprite map, right?). All of the squares you click-drag over would be in the brush. Otherwise, maybe you could hold ctrl + click on all contiguous squares (and a separate button to save those squares as a brush preset).
- Are you designing these sprites yourself? You do a good job, much better than I could ever do - I wish I could draw that good.
(I guess I _did_ have more to say, aha)
Beyond backlinks, you would do good to implement fast load times and cache the resources that you can. Once you max out technically, focus on being honest and get honest people talking about your product.
I can only speak of myself, but if you are interested in security and haven't gave Electron a try, I've written an open source template that could be improved upon: https://github.com/reZach/secure-electron-template
Oh, and be sure to cover your mouth if you cough! (And politely yell at people who cough in their hands :) )
This culture needs to end. I don't spend my time at work solving puzzles, I spend time at work meeting with stakeholders, organizing meetings, discussing options and timelines. I spend my time coding and iterating, not wasting my time at puzzles.
I hate puzzles, because I like to do work that actually produces results (and isn't a measure of how smart one might be). Puzzles are a waste of time in my opinion, a much better proof of pudding would be a programming portfolio of things you've written (ie. Github).
It doesn't help all the icons for command, option and ctrl are all these hyroglyphs.
I'm the author of secure-electron-template, a template with secure practices baked-in. Security is very important and I don't feel people think of that from the get-go.
I agree that it is better to understand math, and computer science, intuitively first. Learning the basics instead of learning how to think in them forces memorization and is frankly in a time gone by.
If only I could've been taught this way when I was younger, then I'd actually be any good at any advanced math.

I didn't quite know what your site was supposed to be saying, to be honest. Is it a blog, a portfolio, a product-hunt like page? I really wasn't sure.
After reading a bit I figured it's a little bit of everything, which is kind of confusing because I feel not many people would stay long as long as I did to figure out.
The words "personal" on the page or in the header would help me a little bit to get where I think you are aiming at the site.
Your design was great, although I feel I'm missing some of it because the mobile site only has the "basic" version. That said, the splash page and the basic page are like two different sites, so that is very jarring for users, it was for me.
I was also confused about the buy me a coffee link, because most of the content appeared to be things you wanted to write about, and I get you may be looking for some extra side money (we all are), but seeing that link made me feel like you need to be a bit more focused on your target. My question was why would I tip you, I didn't know what quite you were providing in content on the site. My main driver for saying that was the loading bar on the home page, where it then took me to am about you page. Hard to understand in that flow what the site is about to me.
I tried to be frank here, I hope this provides you feedback whether you take my words or not. God bless you and have a good day.
Also, would it be possible to buy a license for just the icons and not have any recurring fee if I didn't want to use the IDE?
This is how my brain works, I don't follow a "recommended" or set path, I do what I'm interested in. It depends on you as a person, there isn't a one size fits all.
Thanks for answering my concerns
