I think that we would have fared better if we had waited for some more traction (amount raised and already published in some places) before ramping up the spamming effort. But hindsight has perfect vision and the truth is we'll never know.

The reason why I believe there's an interest in this product is 1. The amount of people who has contacted us because they want this product even after the campaign ended 2. The amount of private investors and potential partners that have contacted us after the campaign closed. If people want to pay for the creation of an iPhone app in a time were we're used to get them for free or next to nothing is another separate issue.

Is it at all possible to crowd fund iPhone apps (that are not games)? I'd love to know more about your crowd funding experiences and your take on what we did wrong.

I guess YouTube and Instagram didn't worry too much about server costs and revenue models. I think it's safe to say they did ok regardless.

Oh yes, this is real. And yes, OneSec is 12x cool as TwelveSec. And dare I say it's going to be better executed? :)

I'm really looking forward to doing some more product videos and see what people think. I believe OneSec is one of these things that it's hard to explain but that you instantly grasp once you see it in action.

Crowd funding is certainly an interesting way to validate your value proposition, but I am not sure I would call it a minimal viable product considering the amount of work a crowd funding effort requires.

I'd like to see questions like: What I learned. What I did wrong. What I would do again. What I would do differently. How the next gig is going to be different. What insane acts of self-sacrifice or creative ingenuity they committed to keep their ship afloat.

The easy answer is that we're not in Berlin but in Cologne. It's not a zero sum game. If there's no HN Meetup in Berlin, I guess someone should get off the lazy train and just found one. We did in Cologne. We think it's the most awesome town for startups in Europe. Then again, most people of Cologne think it's the most awesome town for just about anything! :)
