birksherty··on Molly: An Improved Signal App
Then signal must be very insecure, poorly coded app in first place, that needs to updated every or every other day. They also don't give any explanation of what that updates are.
birksherty··on China has added forest the size of Texas since 1990
Meh! Practical result matters not papers. Everything done in paper. What I've seen in India is trees are planted with publicity, photos, but are not take care of and dies, another program starts and plants thousands of trees, dies within a year, circle goes round. Otherhand seeing many hills destroyed for construction needs.

The number of planted tree grows but benefit not seen, except for the group doing it. People are too into feelings, by seeing the headlines they need to feel good that's why so much publicity is needed, so many banners everywhere, ads in news-paper spending billions by gov.

birksherty··on Crunchyroll is destroying its subtitles
This is just an excuse. There needs to be a hard english sub and then keep other languages can be single video with different text file. Deleting 80% good things only to keep other 20% happy should not be an excuse.

Only english is the most popular and just keep it. Most of the good hard subs are made for english and that is what people want.

birksherty··on 60k kids have avoided peanut allergies due to 2015 advice, study finds
That one incident was serious, the person slept over a caterpillar getting stung all over body. Here all caterpillars have venom in hair. Personally I've touched many times by mistake, but didn't have to take medicine, the itchiness & swelling goes away within a hour.
birksherty··on 60k kids have avoided peanut allergies due to 2015 advice, study finds
Those are not normal food where I'm. Never eaten any of those. Basically I've never heard people getting allergy from foods that we eat here.
birksherty··on 60k kids have avoided peanut allergies due to 2015 advice, study finds
> Various allergies are a decently big thing in many parts of the world

Maybe we live in bubbles.

I am from Asia. I have only seen people need to be taken to emergency hospital in American tv shows for any allergies. Here I've never seen it in my whole life and didn't even know allergy can be this dangerous. We don't have peanut allergy too. First time even I saw it in TV, I was very confused.

Allergies do exists here, but "not to the extent" like what I've seen in American TV shows or heard online.

Only thing I remember is people need to take medicine for to allergy from venomous caterpillar hairs, they mistakenly touched those. And stung by honey bees, wasp etc.

birksherty··on Palantir: The Most Evil Company
Wow, Americans will support anything for a company. The mental gymnastics is absurd for love of the corporates.

Palantir is doing in reality, not someone else. So come to reality and say who is evil in reality not in some hypothetical world.

If another company does it in future then say that company is evil when that actually happens.

It's very simple. But immoral people will think too hard to make things complex to support a immoral company.

birksherty··on Apple vs the Law
If a company is so small and weak that they can't support GDPR etc., then that company should not exist.

I don't care about any companies like Americans do with American business centric laws that hurts normal people. Life isn't about lowest price at any cost model. Buy from china (as everyone is doing but try to hide it) if you want low cost. I don't give a damn if all those companies die for not complying GDPR, fuck them.

birksherty··on 7-Zip for Windows can now use more than 64 CPU threads for compression
I use this one too. This is the best one out of all the alternative 7zip with zstd. UI is same, has all the options and faster than those for zstd in my comparisons.
birksherty··on 7-Zip for Windows can now use more than 64 CPU threads for compression
Tried it, compression is worse compared to 7-Zip-zstd by mcmilk for zstd, for same speed. The removal of text from toolbar icons is enough for me to never use it again. 7zip can change file associations directly with it and very easy. Feels like NanaZip is worse in QoL than 7zip.
birksherty··on 7-Zip for Windows can now use more than 64 CPU threads for compression
Not sure what those gui improvments in winrar is. I prefer 7zip over all those for gui too.
birksherty··on 7-Zip for Windows can now use more than 64 CPU threads for compression
People are really praising microsoft for for all three new "features" and tracking in win 11.
birksherty··on Microplastics shed by food packaging are contaminating our food, study finds
Have you seen plastic bottle/bags lying everywhere?
birksherty··on Being fat is a trap
In India, most people don't take huge junk food. They still get diabetes because of calorie heavy food and eating all time without letting the stomach get empty even for a minute.

It's the food addiction. People can't stop eating just like alcohol, cigarette or drugs.

Democrats don't say party of small gov, only republicans say that. Democrats want more regulations instead.

Democrats want freedom but not freedom that give rights that kills kids.

birksherty··on My imaginary children aren't using your streaming service
That old 4.9 is THE problem not the new 2.1. The old generation popped more, now needing more new generation to care for them in elderly age. It's their own fault.

The kids should not have jobs of caring old generation lined up even before birth. My child is not going to born to take care for these olds.

> not voting is basically supporting whoever wins

This is just wrong. Contests happen mostly between top 2 candidates even if there there are more in the list. I'm taking from experience of other countries in the world not usa. By that logic, of anyone who votes anything other than those 2 most popular, is like voting the whoever wins.

birksherty··on Finland's National Allergy Program Successfully Reduces Allergic Diseases
You are wrong. Either you don't live in India or live in a bubble in rich area and too privileged.

It's not racist when it's true. People are disgusting here and makes me want to vomit in times from what I see. There is no self awareness among Indians unless they live in rich well off area in India and move in their expensive cars.

birksherty··on Please don't force dark mode

birksherty··on TikTok divestment law upheld by federal appeals court
No. It's not criticism but more about able to broadcast directly what is going on in gaza. Western media were not showing that at the beginning or they were only showing what Israel allowed them to.

Politicians were not happy that tiktok had those raw footage. It's not criticism but trying to hide reality.
