sorry, what i meant there wasn't literally pow function per se, but a function which does the job..
bhavin··on Low Level Bit Hacks You Must Know
As much as I love bit manipulation, I have to say that most (not all) of them don't provide any real performance gain for C/C++ code (only some geeky satisfaction of writing difficult to interpret code!).. e.g. with any decent compiler...

* if ((x & 1) == 0) performs same as, if ((x % 2) == 0)

* if (x & (1<<n)) same as, if (x% (pow(2,n)))

so on.. on the other hand, i find bit operations really handy when the variables in question are to be treated as separate bits than normal base-10..

I am relatively new on HN. so, does it really mean that it only takes group of 5-6 people to manipulate HN news/comments any ways they want? shocking, considering HN's influence.

Perhaps, it won't make sense to many of you, but I am really curious as to what happened to this person afterwards he wrote this article. What path in life he followed... any body can help finding out? Googling his name didnt yield anything relevant yet.
bhavin··on Google CEO: Change Names to Avoid Social Networking Past
my plans for name change back in business :)
bhavin··on Gmail design change.. could somebody explain?
how it adds to usability?
bhavin··on Gmail design change.. could somebody explain?
well, I am no expert in usability, but I can tell that the new design is not intuitive to me as much as the original design, leave alone improvement.. I am really wondering what was the motive of the designer to put on the top something so sparingly used like Tasks, Contact! Any views?
bhavin··on Ask HN: Did you ever do anything unethical to get your startup off the ground?
it was more for lulz... funny thing.. when I google about lulz, first result tells me "The term lulz was coined by Jameth, and is the only good reason to do anything, from trolling to rape."
bhavin··on Google CEO Schmidt: "People Aren't Ready for the Technology Revolution"
The reason why I get too uncomfortable around this kinda stuff is that they seem to treat human-beings like machines.. These entities seem to say, we know what you do, what you like, when you're hungry, what you're supposed to do... etc. We're gonna get you so bombarded with stuff that you lose whatever little consciousness you have and start spending wherever we ask you to..

From movie Network (1976): "I'm a human being, goddamn it. My life has value."

bhavin··on Ask HN: Any startups in news space?
one question though.. I just started using it any didnt add any friends yet. Readness is recommending me some news stories, which to be honest, are not 100% relevant.. was wondering based on what it does the recommendation?
bhavin··on Ask HN: Any startups in news space?
yeah, would like to be an early user!
bhavin··on Ask HN: Any startups in news space?

bhavin··on Ask HN: Any startups in news space?
