bestouff··on Casio F-B100W-1A
Ok right. I didn't know people were used to that.
bestouff··on Casio F-B100W-1A
OK, but who would use 12h time ? I never understood, this seems so backwards.
bestouff··on Leave your screen unlocked, meet developers paypal.com
Hey we did that at engineering school in the early 90s. Pranks were a little less ... subtle shall we say.

Still, to this day I still can't walk off my desk with locking my screen. So the lesson was well taught, and I'm happy about that (and have find memories of the various pranks).

bestouff··on Europe's scorched landscapes seen from space after summer heatwaves
Very hot in summer, very cold in winter.
bestouff··on Suspecting court of using AI, man injected prompts in filings to try to win case
Indeed these people have an immense ego that I would qualify as abject. But not their AI. It's not sentient yet.
bestouff··on Suspecting court of using AI, man injected prompts in filings to try to win case
AI has no self-interest, because it has no self. You are mistaken.
bestouff··on WhatCable: Know what your USB-C cable can do
Then I am kidding myself, because I'm convinced it does a lot more.
bestouff··on WhatCable: Know what your USB-C cable can do
OK sure your 6 figures thing or even that 20k thing are way better testers than the Treedix. But for my use case, i.e. verify what's actually in the cable (not blindly trusting the marker) the latter is sufficient and very ergonomic, and the "real" testers are overkill.
bestouff··on WhatCable: Know what your USB-C cable can do
Exactly my use case.

And I have nothing to gain from that sale.

bestouff··on WhatCable: Know what your USB-C cable can do
I'm using the hardware tester from Treedix in which you have to plug both ends of the cable and which tests a lot of things, I'm quite fond of it.

I have a basket with a lot of USB-c cables and without the tester I can't remember (nor guess) which one does what.

bestouff··on Chartreuse, a case study in how scarcity and authenticity can drive desirability
Hey ! I'm precisely living in the Chartreuse Massif (in the French Alps), and regularly fly over the monks' monastery. Reading about our beloved drink here is fun ! I must say we also were worried when we learnt that they would reduce production (which had not been done in the monastery for a long time now, but in an adjacent city) but we're still able to buy it in our regular stores, so yes if feels like it was a marketing stunt.
bestouff··on 5th Heat Dome Expands Across Europe: 40°C+ Target Western and Central Europe

bestouff··on Flock Cameras Can Track Every Car in America. Police Love Them. Citizens Don't
I don't think we have the same definition of the word "leftist".
bestouff··on USA Today Co., partners with Palantir to analyze audience data
I didn't see you capitalized the T at first. The sentence was still somehow making sense.
bestouff··on The sale of Electronic Arts has been finalized
It's not a financial investment. They're buying influence.
bestouff··on EU now fears US interference in European elections
Those hateful islamists are the same easily influenced poor sods from the other side of the sea, converted by other kinds of right-wing opportunists
bestouff··on EU now fears US interference in European elections
Of course there are. But how many people were brainwashed by Fox News in the US, various tabloids in the UK, the Bolloré media empire in France, etc. ? My guess is it's there huge majority of them. Like in any part of the world, take some unhappy people (mostly poor but not only), you have a very fertile ground for your readymade enemy stories.
bestouff··on EU now fears US interference in European elections
They are driven by conservative media explaining to them the enemy is the other (brown, or trans, or plain woman) instead of the ruling class.
bestouff··on Over 150k Flights: Airlines Just Flew the Busiest Day in Recorded History
Can't you have fun in your life without taking a plane ? So weird.
bestouff··on Over 150k Flights: Airlines Just Flew the Busiest Day in Recorded History
Does he really "need" it though ? For thousands of years people didn't travel shi fast to attend funerals (they only did it locally), where they less happy about it ?
bestouff··on Schools are adding pepper-spraying drones to help combat active shooters
Are you sure it still deserves the "first world" label ?
bestouff··on Over 150k Flights: Airlines Just Flew the Busiest Day in Recorded History
Yes let's continue burning fuel. It's fine.
bestouff··on I'm 38 and I Can't Support Myself Anymore
Wouldn't it be marvelous if these were mandatory and paid by state with huge scale benefits ?
bestouff··on I'm 38 and I Can't Support Myself Anymore
A society where just stating this is called trolling is such a sad society. I pity you and you brainwashed siblings.
bestouff··on US DOT deleting bike lane references
Obviously the far-right hates bike lanes.

But the models will still be there to use.
bestouff··on Corporate America Has Suddenly Decided to Stop Blowing Money on AI
OpenCode is my main driver (enables me to switch models at will) and I like it very much.
