bennydog224··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
We’re looking to improve signal and reduce noise for energy traders. Currently, power is a niche market that relies heavily on day-ahead forecasts to set prices for energy contracts. When they’re actually exercised, it can be problematic for the buyer and/or seller if energy demand is significantly lower or higher than anticipated.

We currently are focused on hydroelectric power in the PNW region - converting river flow to tradable metrics.

bennydog224··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
I’m working on https://askcrystal.info. We’re a government dataset aggregator in our very early stages. We’re looking to expand into API use cases, e.g. grounding LLM responses. Would love to get feedback and connect with others in the space.
bennydog224··on Research Briefing: MCP Security
There's a lot of confusion around MCP security. This Wiz brief is the most accurate I've found thus far.
bennydog224··on Show HN: I replaced my devs with AI agents – and it worked
How do your devs feel about this in regards to their career? Are they worried about their DSA/coding skills atrophying? Not knocking, just genuinely curious.
bennydog224··on Blog hosted on a Nintendo Wii
Not to be a stickler, but the blog isn't actually FULLY hosted on the Wii until you move that Caddy instance to it or drop it :)

Nice work.

bennydog224··on Show HN: JuryNow – Get an anonymous instant verdict from 12 real people
Pretty neat, it’s super slow though when selecting an answer. I exited out of frustration. I like the loading bar though.
bennydog224··on Show HN: Graphs – A daily puzzle game to guess data sets
Disclaimer as a friend of the author - but this is slick looking! I also like how I don't need to pay the New York Times to access Graphs.

I enjoy the basic feature a lot but I'd love to see a secondary challenge of identifying what precipitated the highest spike or drop if you get the first answer right. I think this would challenge the user in a different way - OK you can spot this trend - but how much do you really know it?

I think you could use a moving average and standard deviation to accomplish this in code - numpy has some native methods.

Great execution, keep it up!

bennydog224··on Flexport is rescinding a bunch of signed offer letters
Awful look for this company. Imagine international students /H1B holders who turned down other offers to join Flexport, and now may not have enough time to get another offer before needing to permanently leave in 60 days.
