benchtobedside··on Cops are asking Ancestry.com and 23andMe for their customers’ DNA
From the original article [1]: "If the idea of investigators poking through your DNA freaks you out, both Ancestry.com and 23andMe have options to delete your information with the sites. 23andMe says it will delete information within 30 days upon request."

One may wonder if they treat this policy much like Ashley Madison treated their removal promise.

Interesting to see what has / hasn't moved.

benchtobedside··on How I no longer pay Uber's surge rates
Every experience I've had with Flywheel in SF has been terrible (sample size: 4). Each time the taxi has been slow to arrive, up to twice as expensive, taken bizarre routes and the drivers were just as rude as every other taxi.

I'd rather take the bus than give Flywheel my money to be honest.

Off topic - but why does their chosen font (Freight Sans Pro) render so poorly on Chrome?

Thanks for clarifying.

Further to this comment from [0]: "But with Cfp1, the stakes of that specific patent dispute go down. A lab or company could use Cfp1 without infringing on the CRISPR/Cas9 patent. "

Can anyone comment on how this may impact the IP landscape for CRISPR? [0]

benchtobedside··on A Drug Hits Cycling Before It Hits the Market
The compound mentioned in the source article, FG-4592, is delivered in a powder form [1], not a pill.

It is available to researchers as they are able to use it in non-human assays, experiments and studies.

benchtobedside··on Carl Icahn Takes $100M Stake in Lyft
With Lyft Line the price is fixed ahead of the pickup, I don't see an estimate for the standard Lyft.

With Uber the price is either fixed also (SF), or there is a fare estimate button after you set your pickup location.
