bear141··on Apple allows some iOS apps to track user locations via lists of nearby SSIDs
I wonder if there is a service to automate small (or large) donations to multiple organizations on a regular basis similar to an investment service?

Edit: I can only find services marketed towards the nonprofit, not for the donor. A service that aggregated and automated all the nonprofits I want to regularly donate small amounts to would be great. I think it would be important to not require the nonprofits direct involvement in order to allow me to donate as diversely as I want.

I don’t know why you got downvoted. “Smoke your rent, live in a tent” is their motto in Portland.

Him acting altruistically now with his vast resources is the best we can hope for I suppose.
bear141··on TSA introducing self-service screening technology in Las Vegas
Thank you for elaborating for me. That’s what I was trying to say but my response was lazy.

It’s easy to focus on philanthropy and feelings after your monolithic megacorp has ground your competition into dust.

This is called the 5th amendment.

You can do something similar now with email aliasing services. Also they don’t include your primary address which is easily stripped from the + format you are describing.

The quotations would indicate that he is using “free” facetiously.
bear141··on Murder is a pixel art ECS game engine in C#
Thinking this way, but in the reverse, is the only to consume mass media news. It’s incredible how biased and ridiculous everything is anymore.

I guess the /s was needed.

What a refreshing perspective. I also trust them to act altruistically.
bear141··on The Bond villain compliance strategy
You, like everyone else, have never read about the smartest/luckiest criminals in the world because they don’t get caught.

I am trying to find a source for your claims about the fountain but nothing comes up in the first few pages of a search. The results that do come up mention their extreme overuse of water during the droughts of 2022, but nothing as extreme as your anecdote.
bear141··on In the gut's 'second brain,' key agents of health emerge
My theory is fairly broad and vague, but your comment has taken those two things to an extreme.
bear141··on In the gut's 'second brain,' key agents of health emerge
I have a theory that our natural state is “hungry”. We haven’t evolved past a time where getting enough food to be “full” would be a pretty rare occurrence. Everyone’s obsession with being perfectly comfortable at all times is why such an incredible amount of people die of obesity and its comorbitities every year in America.
bear141··on TV: Now What?
I don’t agree with forcing anyone to do anything with something they have created.

It just seemed like that’s what they were asking for as a consumer.

My comment was phrased inappropriately.

Ok. Thank you.
bear141··on TV: Now What?
Seems like the easy answer is not to remove anyone’s ownership over their own content or their rights to distribute it on their own or however they want, but rather to also force them to release on something central as well.
bear141··on Details emerge of surprise board coup that ousted CEO Sam Altman at OpenAI
I agree completely. People should oppose openly or leave.

bear141··on Ask HN: What are the most interesting takes on Generative AI you've come across?
Disinformation and manipulation is already such an incredibly invasive problem across all media and all sides of political spectrum that I can’t imagine the majority of people ever changing in the way you describe.
bear141··on Volvo delivers 74-tonne electric truck
Probably because people pay for the service and then feel the need to justify its expense at any opportunity no matter how appropriate.
bear141··on I spent 3 years working on a coat hanger [video]
Can’t this already easily be accomplished and even flatter to the wall simply by using a hanger with a swiveling head? Only downsides compared to this invention would be the way the different items nested together and the fact that they stuck out to the sides 50% of each hanger at the ends?
bear141··on New York restaurants fight back against reservations by bots
The pricing tiers you are describing are not created by the artists. This is the venue or the ticket distributor doing this.
