This made me remember a news story out of Mississippi last year of hundreds of graves behind a jail with no accountability of whose body is placed there.

It only came to light after much struggle from people searching for missing family members. Basically people in police or jail custody who died were dumped in there under a blanket assumption that no family had claimed them, but no attempts to notify or find family members was made.

Why is it so hard to understand this? Five years ago on HN stories like this would collect comments with general revulsion to this sort of surveillance. Today there is a troubling sentiment that "we can't have a society without unlimited time history of every person's movements available for scrutiny."

Respectfully, this is naive and doesn't consider defacto judicial process. Basically, defendants are getting railroaded unless they have resources to mount a defense, and charges are inflated to incentivize plea bargaining.

This is great if you are fine managing npm packages, seems the only smooth way to install mermaid-cli. I'd say this is a mermaid limitation not a presenterm limitation.

Trying to make a presentation right now. In order to render mermaid charts I need to install 'mmdc', or mermaid-cli perhaps -- but this is npm territory and I dont really want to get into the whole node ecosystem, it would be opening a can of worms for sure.

From what Ive read about stingrays here on HN, the device is fooling your cell phone to make a tower connection using the movile network. This does not depend on you making a call, the cell phone is normally doing background activity to connect to cell towers all the time.

IIRC even with airplane mode the stingray can capture phone info, IMEI, GPS location, etc.

Is your example of a float32 number correct, holding 24 ascii char representation? I had thought single-precision gonna be 7 digits and the exponent, sign and exp sign. Something like 7+2+1+1 or 10 char ascii representation? Rather than the 24 you mentioned?

It's not a pet theory, it's exactly how the Five-Eyes system is meant to work. I remember when Total Information Awareness was announced and they even had a cool badge designed for the new govt department. It wasn't a popular idea.
