b__d··on Evernote Blows Up the ‘Fail Fast’ Gospel
have you ever tried workflowly? i think it's far superior.
b__d··on Show HN: Lunar lander-type game with computational fluid dynamics
oooooh, the memories... thank you very much for this 45 (!) minutes of great nostalgia :)
b__d··on It's time to head back to RSS?
Also early supporter here. For the great product/service I even voluntarily increaced my subscription rate, because $2 (what it started with) a month seemed way too cheap to me, especially for a heavy user like me. Still love it.
b__d··on Why Am I So Lazy?
Though the word "Sucht" may imply that it derives from "suchen", it does not [1][2][3], making the translation "süchtig" into "seeking" just plain wrong, even loosley.

süchtig = addicted, hooked seeking = suchend

b__d··on Improving my productivity using Pomodoro: takeaways after 2 years of practice
Why do you peel it? All the "good stuff" is in the skin.
b__d··on Plain emails not only save time but work better (2016)
click rate is mere a metric for engagement. it's worth more or less nothing from business perspectives. i'd love to see a similar test with b2c content and KPIs like conversion. etc.
b__d··on Internet Movie Cars Database
i'd like something like that for watches.
b__d··on Ask HN: Those in Europe making €100K+ annually, what is your job like?
It doesn't make any sense to compare salaries solely by numbers and without comparing the buying power related to the salary in the given country. Escpascially (!) not in the EU, since it's so diverse. This is most basic economic understanding. It just does not work out, no matter what you take in account to "justify" the the higher or the lower salary.

I live in Austria (big corp) and make 1x € a year.

My brother lives in Swizerland (big corp too) and he makes 3x € a year. It's a usualy saying here, that you make around 3 times the money in Switzerland compared to Austria, independently of what you work.

BUT:

In proportion to buying power and minus cost of living he has just about 1,5x € more money to blow (or to safe). Not 3x

AND,

he also says quality of life is 10x better in Austria: Do you live to work or work to live?

Spoiler: He's moving back to Austria in 1-2 years.

b__d··on Typing Nix
Cool, thanks for clarifying :)
b__d··on Typing Nix
Funny: Nix is short (or colloquial) for "nichts" in German which further means "nothing" in English.

So the CTA "Get Nix" is kinda funny for German speaking people :)

PS: Greetings from Austria!

b__d··on Show HN: $2 incremental pricing logo project
it's not a copy. logo.pizza offered premade logos. here you have a briefing after purchase and you get a custom made one.

however, i dislike this kind of "services". it does not reflect the real value and work behind a logo. therefor future customer will have a distoreted idea on what a logo is worth.

b__d··on How I built the IMDb message boards, in 2001
What a nice read, thank you very much for sharing!
