azsromej··on IPad App Maker "Good Reader" Makes $70,000 In 20 Days
Awesome, I do hope this market continues to grow.

I have an educational app as another data point: $6 in 2 days with http://slidetorock.com/apps/MakeChange-change-counting-kids-... - I can't seem to find my own app on the iPad unless I actively search for it though

azsromej··on App Store SEO: The Impact of iTunes Web Preview
I hope this helps more people find apps they might like. The new iTunes layout seems to encourage people to NOT read the description at all (sales on one of my apps just dropped 40% due to a bad review - the first review after the latest update). Indexing on 100 chars of keywords is the only way you can find something in iTunes, but there's more to most apps than that.
azsromej··on How to convince any C developer to dump gcc and use clang
I use it as a static analyzer for iPhone projects and it creates a nice summary of issues (as linked to) on a web page
azsromej··on Ask HN: got to 33 in the App Store. Now what?
And, of course, some categories do more volume than others. I hit the top 10 in a category and was making < $100/day
azsromej··on Tell HN: I released my open source iPhone AppStore Sales Graphing Tool
Looks nice, max. I thought I'd finally be able to see what some of your apps were but alas, no!
azsromej··on Thesixtyone (YC W09) launches version 2.0
how do you view a list of top songs?
azsromej··on Yelp Extortion Allegations Stack Up (March 2009)
I just posted Inc's article on how Yelp can make or break local businesses (this month's article). http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1062641
azsromej··on Making A Living (Barely) On The iPhone App Store (aka The Numbers Post)
one of the greatest app store success stories will be AppViz
azsromej··on Remnants of the Biosphere
We made a small trip to see this when I was growing up in AZ. Mostly forgot about it until now, very cool to see.
azsromej··on Ask HN: Is AppStore getting better?
They reportedly beefed up staffing over the holiday break. Approval times (for updates at least) were on the order of 1-3 days. Maybe new app approvals are faster too.
azsromej··on Warn HN: Google Calendar is not reliable
I've had problems, but only with recurring events; I wasn't getting reminders for those so I made them one-time events and dragged them to a future date upon notification.
azsromej··on [dead]
I haven't seen it myself yet. It's Google's new real-time search results feature http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/relevance-meets-real-...
azsromej··on How To Create a Conference Call in 3 Lines of Code
They run on Amazon EC2 with instances that have Asterisk; Digium is one provider of hardware for these situations but I don't know how that's incorporated into their architecture
azsromej··on Ask HN: magazines for new Internet entrepreneurs and startups?
Inc. is indeed great.

In fact, my karma would be about 1,000 points higher if I'd simply remember to submit the online versions of some of the articles. They're typically highly regarded on hn.

azsromej··on Ask HN: Startup school 2009 videos ?
I really enjoyed the 2008 videos. I can't find the 2009 ones except at justin.tv, and the audio fades in and out and is grainy.
azsromej··on The Best Quotes from Startup School
related to the facebook florida llc quote, for those curious, are the actual papers from sunbiz http://bit.ly/1MDAnT
azsromej··on Ask HN: Are you a founder?
yes, working on http://rankforest.com and another unreleased project
azsromej··on Poll: How fast do the images load on my app?
I had the same experience, Micah (from Augusta, GA)
azsromej··on [dead]
yeah, you can see him talking about being on the show http://twitter.com/realbillymays
azsromej··on Text of Y Combinator article in Inc Magazine
i forgot how cheap magazines can be now - I think my year of Inc was only $7, whereas buying one copy off the shelf would be like $5
azsromej··on Paul Graham and Y Combinator are on the cover of June's Inc Magazine
I read the thing cover to cover a few days ago, and I never think to post - I think Inc set me mine early. It's a good article.
azsromej··on My iPhone app has mostly very positive and very negative ratings. What to do?
I've also noticed this pattern. My textual reviews are fairly positive, but I have a lot of 1-star reviews. In some cases, people have emailed me and it has become clear that the app simply didn't meet their expectations (in 9/10 cases they didn't seem to have actually read the app description).
azsromej··on Ask HN: Back problems
I get back pain every once in awhile and it tends to linger for 1-4 weeks. Then it goes away for a month or two.

I try to work my abs and lower back, as well as stretch my hamstrings.

As for sitting up straight, I think the most recent guidance is that a 120-135 degree thigh-to-back angle is optimal: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6187080.stm

azsromej··on Chris Wanstrath's Startup Riot keynote text
I'm still in the process of upgrading my ambition, but I've so far been happy to just get to the point where I can release something. If it makes > $10/mo on its own, consistently, I smile (which brings me back to needing to upgrade ambitions)
azsromej··on IPhone Game iShoot earns the Developer $600K in a month
To an extent the delay seems related to program complexity. I released a utility app (http://rankforest.com/ranktouch) that was approved after 5 days.
azsromej··on Ask HN: Which school do you attend?
Georgia Tech, CmpE 04
azsromej··on Indie game made by 2 people out-selling Spore, Left 4 Dead, & Fallout 3 at Amazon
i bought the Wii version (it's online in the Wii store or whatever it's called) for $15. It's a lot of fun.
azsromej··on Microsoft's BizSpark, In First 30 Days, Reaches Thousands of Startups
you can do it with off-the-shelf tools if your competitors decide to use really "hackerish" languages and tools and end up taking longer to produce the same or lesser product.
