azophy_2··on The PolymurHash universal hash function
cryptography noob here. what is the potential application for this function? I just read about Universal hash today, and from what I understand the results is not deterministic? So it can't be used for password hashing? Would appreciate explanation for this
azophy_2··on Elixir Livebook is a secret weapon for documentation
this is really interesting. I've never thought on using this or any jupyter-like tools to document working software. Maybe I'll try it later

This is a good explanation about differences between the three

azophy_2··on Ask HN: How are the current layoffs affecting non-US developers?
Indonesia got hit pretty hard. Someone event made a tracker for it [1]. Currently at least 42 companies have been affected.

azophy_2··on Confluence on-premise is dead, what now?
+1 for outline. we use it in our office too (~150 people organization). with notion-like interface, plenty of app integrations, realtime collaborative editing I couldn't be happier with our documentation needs
azophy_2··on Lightweight Arch-based distro that runs, without root, upon any Linux distro
> In fact, the purpose of JuNest is not to build a complete isolated environment but, conversely, is the ability to run programs as they were running natively from the host OS. Almost everything is shared between host OS and the JuNest sandbox (kernel, process subtree, network, mounting, etc) and only the root filesystem gets isolated (since the programs installed in JuNest need to reside elsewhere).

> This allows interaction between processes belonging to both host OS and JuNest. For instance, you can install top command in JuNest in order to monitor any processes belonging to the host OS.

So this is more similar to something like pip/npm/composer than to docker?

azophy_2··on Open Props: Tailwind Alternative from Chrome Dev Team
I think WindiCSS came up with it earlier than Tailwind. See https://antfu.me/posts/windicss-and-tailwind-jit
azophy_2··on GoKey – A simple vaultless password manager in Go
agree. from what understand, if 2 people happen to have the same master password, they would have the same passwords for ALL THEIR ACCOUNTS. pretty scary if you ask me
azophy_2··on Show HN: We launched a new web browser
we already have "nameless" IP addresses, in which DNS is built on top of it as abstraction. using SHA256 is no better that using IPv6 IMO
azophy_2··on Simple.css – A classless CSS framework
Nice! PicoCSS (http://picocss.com) is another classless css framework I recommended
azophy_2··on Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses?
I recommend checking out the IndieHackers Community (indiehackers.com). There are plenty thriving one-person companies there
azophy_2··on Quadratic voting: A mathematical method that could offer a fairer way to vote
In case anyone interested, I've made a polling website inspired by this thread, intended for everyday uses. Please let me know what you guys think! ;)

azophy_2··on Pico CSS Framework
vanilla javascript has improved a lot these years. however I've found that alpinejs is small & nice if you need better syntax for interactivity
azophy_2··on PHP is worth learning and using
swoole is a pretty interesting alternative as it allows asynchronous programming in PHP.

roadrunner is a PHP server developed using golang, utilizing goroutines for high performance.

both used by Laravel Octane, providing very easy integration with the framework.

Other than that, php-fpm & FastCGI allows integration with many interestin webserver including Nginx, Caddy, Lighttpd, etc.

azophy_2··on Using “Frontend” or “Backend” to describe the Engineering you like (2020)
Couple months ago there is an HN Post about "front-of-the-frontend vs back-of-the-frontend" dichotomy. First time reading the title I thinks its complete nonsense, however those distinction may found follower in other places. I think your comment may have some similarity with that idea
azophy_2··on Cleaning Up Your Postgres Database
there is a HN thread a couple days ago discussing Clickhouse. Haven't try it myself, but may be useful

azophy_2··on The “$20M to $500M” Question: Adding Top Down Sales
have you checked out IndieHacker.com ? its a community with lots of (if not mostly) solo founder/one-man startup. definitely worth joining
