azeemba··on Compromised PyTorch-nightly dependency chain between December 25th – December 30
It's hard to take that message at face value. If one wanted to help find issues, one wouldn't actively collect secrets. Like maybe `/etc/resolv.conf` makes sense to identify parties but collecting all contents of `~/.ssh` can only be seen as malicious

> Users of the PyTorch stable packages are not affected by this issue.

But the packages they ask you to uninstall have the same names. How does one install the nightly package? If I just installed "torch" can I assume that I don't have the nightly version?

azeemba··on Degenerate matter: How reality deals with uncertainty
Because it is part of the theory of quantum mechanics itself. It is not just an empirical fact, it is a prediction of the theory itself.

Similar behavior shows up in Fourier Transforms [1]. When an audio sample is converted into frequency-space, it shows similar "narrowing/widening" relationship with the original audio sample. This again isn't a limitation of measurement, its just the relationship between the two bases

azeemba··on Draw SVG rope using JavaScript
It's interesting that you mentioned, Ciechanowski. It's definitely what I thought of when I saw your post.

After seeing the GPS post [1] on that website, I also decided that I wanted to write posts with more visualizations. I wonder how many people the author has inspired!

azeemba··on Cached Chrome Top Million Websites
It might be worth updating this comment and explaining your second query.

People seem to think it is somehow measuring visits to those origins. But it's measuring how many unique subdomains are listed for those domains

azeemba··on Improving color quantization heuristics
The visualization of the algorithm is fun! Really helps understand the process

The website does look wonky on mobile though, but I was able to use Firefox reading-mode to read it more easily

azeemba··on Show HN: Vector Graphics with Stable Diffusion
Stable Diffusion just generates images so they are doing something on top to convert to SVG. Hard to tell how well the svg-ification is of the resulting image.
