ayewo··on A guide to local coding models
In practice, how does switching between Claude and GitHub Copilot work?

1. Do you start off using the Claude Code CLI, then when you hit limits, you switch to the GitHub Copilot CLI to finish whatever it is you are working on?

2. Or, you spend most of your time inside VSCode so the model switching happens inside an IDE?

3. Or, you are more of a strict browser-only user, like antirez :)?

I'm guessing that would be the human that let the AI run loose on corporate systems.

ayewo··on Gemini CLI tips and tricks for agentic coding

Did you let the agent loose without first creating its own git worktree?

ayewo··on How a French judge was digitally cut off by the USA
You are ignoring the possibility of technological disruption.

Apple disrupted Nokia and Blackberry. ARM is currently disrupting Intel.

What if someone lands on a break-through using a completely different tech: what if X-ray lithography [1] becomes viable enough that they don’t have to acquire state-of-art EUV machines from ASML?

[1] X-ray lithography was abandoned in the 80s but it is being revisited by Substrate https://substrate.com/our-purpose. They are an American company that hopes to make it commercially viable by being cheaper and far less complex than EUV.

ayewo··on Show HN: PingStalker – A macOS tool for network engineers
Congrats on shipping!

Apart from the obvious question of why you didn't opt to open source the tool :), I'm genuinely curious about how you approached development.

How did you decide for this feature A: "I'll just spawn child processes and read the output of `x-y-z` and `a-b-c` CLI tools, while for feature B: "I'll drop-down to BSD sockets"? Perhaps you have a performance budget: if using the Apple-provided CLI utilities are not fast enough then you drop down to writing BSD sockets?

To add to this, modules make it easy for external tools like GraalVM native-image to produce self-contained binaries that are smaller compared to the standard practice of distributing fat binaries (i.e. large JARs).

EDIT:

I've posted about it on GitHub: https://github.com/gemini-cli-extensions/security/issues/81

ayewo··on Show HN: Binary artifact and release management, for everyone
Congrats on your launch!

Some feedback on your messaging.

1. I didn’t realize you were also targeting teams that release mobile apps in your pitch until you very last sentence where you mention Apple and Google’s mobile app stores.

Consider qualifying your opening sentence with a hint about the platforms you support i.e.

> I've been building a tool for teams to manage their software binaries and releases for desktop and mobile.

2. There’s a small mismatch between your Show HN title and who your target customers are.

You wrote that the inspiration for your idea:

> Idea for Buildstash is to bring binary and release management to all software teams, making it so accessible even for small teams that it becomes as much a no-brainer as having source control or CI.

so might be better to rework your title to read: “Show HN: Binary artifact and release management, for small teams”

It’s really really hard to make a product that appeals to everyone, especially when you are still a start up.

It's not a standard way to do it. Different projects adopt different approaches.
